Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working

I just went w/ the cab file since I can uninstall it.

So what this tweak does is that it gives you more option in Settings/Phone/CDMA services?

If you're in a poor signal area, your phone will switch over to a different network to allow you to make the call. This is great, but the problem is that as soon as it senses even a faint Sprint signal, your phone will jump back on to the weaker spring signal resulting in more dropped calls and poor call quality.

What forced roaming allows you to do is to stay on the stronger signal network. Your phone will disregard trying to get back on the Sprint while you're on the call. Very useful. Unfortunately it only works on Sprint as far as I know!

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working

I can say for a fact this doesn't work on Verizon. I have tried in multiple areas and it can never find a roaming network. This is why I have a cheap prepaid SIM card to go onto the AT&T network if I ever need to Roam.

Re: I got the "Roaming Only" thing working

It added two additional entries something "phone" and that was after the 3 entries, I removed those and soft-reset. Working again. But, when I goto roam only, it never connects to anything. I know we have roaming here, must be something else. I verified that I have the three entries, as referenced in OP.

Hey Bundo,

I thought that when you added the forced roam lines in the reg and left it in 'automatic' mode, the addition of the forced roam would prevent hopping back to the sprint network after it had switched to a stronger signal.

Does something else need to be done to make this work on modded ROMs? I thought automtic + reg edits = automatic forced roam. Am I wrong?

I can confirm that this does not work on Mighty ROM. I used the registry entry's as stated in post #1 on my stock Sprint ROM and they work perfect. But now that I am using Mighty ROM, nothing that I know of makes a 'Roaming Only' option appear. The cab that was provided a few posts back does not work either.

Anyone have any luck being able to Force Roaming on a modded ROM?

I was thinking, maybe it's not a modded ROM that is preventing a 'Roaming Only' option using the registry edits in the OP's first post. Maybe its Windows Mobile 6.5.

The registry edits worked perfect on my stock ROM, but when I tried them on my MightyROM they don't work. Could it be because MightyROM uses Windows Mobile 6.5, and in 6.5 the registry entry to force roaming is different. Just wondering.

It is really useful if you want to get out of your contract. If you use more than 50% of your minutes on roaming network, sprint will kick you out
