Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

I think who ever got their Touch Pro2 (TMobile & Sprint) paid huge price($450 + $100MIR) .Verizon released Touch Pro2 for $199 with instant online rebate, is it possible for us to get for the same price.

Infact mine is Sprint version. I got it as an upgrade to my current SERO $30 for $450 + $100MIR.

What do you guys think, is it worth trying.

Wouldn't hurt to try... Sometimes it depends on who u talk to

wouldn't hurt, but they will most likely argue the additional price is offset by the cheaper plans Sprint offers. I essentially got mine for free.

$600 -150 upgrade -$100 MIR -$100 (compensation for screwing up my renewal -long story) -$250 (sold- Touch Pro!)

Wow, Thanks kind of amazing. You got it for free.

I spoke with retentions today and tried to get them to do a price match on the TP2 I purchased online on Wednesday. They flat out refused to price match and the best they could do was give me one month free service + 3 landline phone numbers added to my anytime/anywhere service.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

Sprint will not price match with verizon. I have called 3 times and can not even get them to give me the 100 MIR as a instant rebate. I can't beleive they are charging 150 more than verzion for the same phone. Verizon has the TP for 99 right now!

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

I wish I was out of contract right now because verizon lowered some of there plans and now their phones are cheaper than sprint too. I would so jump ship if I wouldn't have to pay cancelation fees.

Having been with Verizon for 11 years, and owning a 'gimped' touch pro for a year, and now having just ordered my TP2 for a grand total of $80 (not to mention I should be able to sell my TP1 for at least $200), all I can say is....

WHO'S LAUGHING NOW SUCKAS!!

after all the smack talk about the VZW touch pro, I think it's great that VZW finally rewards us with a better looking device, spec'd the same as everyone else, for way less money than everyone else :)

I think you Sprint guys are gonna be hearing it for a good long while :D Hopefully you all man up and take it the same way you dished it out!

can you say Any Mobile, Anytime??
What about plans that are 30% cheaper than Verizon anyways!!! (not always, apparently verizon lowered their plan pricing.)
Sprint takes the lead...Not to mention the 25% discount I receive.

97.50 for 1500 shared minutes (for landline only)
unlimited data, text, navigation (with traffic), sprint tv, picture mail...
nights and weekends at 7pm
pick 5 for my common used landline numbers
500 bonus minutes
any mobile anytime...

need I go on...

I can take it. Sprint really dropped the ball on this one. I've always been loyal to sprint and even defended them to verizon users, but I don't agree with their pricing on this one. :protest:

You have a point...kinda.

Yes, we have the any mobile thingy now, but our plans are not 30% cheaper than Verizon's. Verizon has the same $69.99 Everything Data plan we do, except it does not include navigation or TV, which ours does. To get that, you need to move up to the $79.99 plan, so it's just $10 more. It appears Verizon has revamped their plan pricing in order to compete with Sprint, which I didn't expect they'd ever need to, but they did anyway.

I'm on SERO, so all of this is moot to me, but I guess you can also argue the fact that we have the Premier program as well which allows us to get full handset upgrade pricing every year if we have a $69.99+ plan.

Also, I like getting referral bonuses.

That Verizon $69.99 plan is for 450 minutes and Unlimited Data ... but no text. You have to jump to the $99 plan to add unlimited texting. I think that would make it about 30% cheaper.

I was goin to buy the phone untill I spoke with someone on sprint chat on tuesday and they said that the price was speculation with verizon and if it actually priced that way sprint will match but now that sprint refuses to match i am debating the switch big time ive been with sprint for 10 yrs but im not paying 449 then 100 off with a rebate when verizon has it for 299 with 100 off. I too have defended sprint for a long time but this Sh!t is re****ulas

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

they had to bump up the price to 349.99 after rebate because the tp1 is still the same price 299.99 after rebate, how would it look if they had a year old phone and a brand new model at the same price? and we all know sprint dont drop prices much on old phones, i think it reflects on alot of us, we want it, we want the stuff on it that didnt come with the tp1, so they knew this and put a high price tag on it, and we will pay for it..... dang sprint...

but i look at it this way, if the tp1 is 299.99 the 349.99 for the tp2 is only a 50 dollar difference? in my opinion its worth more than the tp1 by alot more, i think they should drop the tp2 to 299.99 and the tp1 to 199.99..

if they dont drop the tp1 price, wouldnt pricing the tp2 the same just be dumb???? thats just my opinion

sprint needs to drop their tp1 price as well.... if the tp1 and tp2 were the same price, the tp1 would not sell anymore, or much anyways, so it was either bump the tp2 price up or bump down the tp1 price...... but which do they pick? the dumber move.lol

I spoke with a Sprint Retentions rep located in Florida. Told him that I was at a Verizon store and was going to have them port my current Sprint line to theirs if they couldn't give me a good offer for the TP2. Rep knew I wasn't eligible for any upgrades until 11/2010 (Used my $150 upgrade last year for the TP1). Rep went ahead and knocked off $200 the original price ($599). Told him that it was still too much and I was going to get the TP2 through Verizon for $199 after MIR. The Rep knocked off $50 more and activation+shipping. Told him I'll take the offer if he assures me that the phone will be shipped overnight. Rep committed to the deal and I took the offer. Once I receive the TP2, I'm going to sell my TP1 for $130 which sums up to:

$599
-$250 Retentions
$349
-$130 TP1
**$219** Before taxes
Shipping &
Activation + Overnight delivery waived

Btw, I have the SERO F&F 500 plan.

Dan@sprint.com should get an email from those that feel the price should be more in line with their main competition.

It should have the sprint link with all (only) the PDA prices and verizon link with all (only) the PDA prices. Maybe a few emails can help sway the price? I dunno.

I really think they are just waiting for the bleeding edge early adopters to buy it before coming down to a more competive market price.

who knows now lets get those emails rolling.

Lets do this. :protest:

Dear Dan,

Your price....
Verizon's price...
Sprint's link
Verizon's link

lol

email sent.

Unfortunately, none of those plans will work with the TP2. You have to select from the PDA/Smartphone Nationwide Email & Messaging plans to get comparable features. They start at $99 for 450 minutes and that doesn't include VZ Navigator or Media.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

I agree that the verizon version is much sexier and cheaper... but... I wont be getting rid of sprint anytime soon.. theres no other provider out there that can give me what sero does.. 500 min, unlimited everything else for 30 bux a month.. so in the end, im saving that extra 150 after about 4 months.. heres how i calculate it

Sprint tp2 = 350 after MIR ( what i paid at least )
plan 30 x 12 = 360 ( before tax )
--------------------
710 after a year

Verizon tp2 = 199 after MIR
plan 70 x 12 = 840 (before tax )
----------------------
1039 after a year..

so even if you got the verizon version for free you are still paying more one the cheapest similar plan.. and i get 50 more minutes out the deal... I think ill stay with sprint. Now ovbiously this doesnt apply to everyone.. Only the lucky sero plan holders..

Wow...that guy must have been an idiot or something. You got super lucky. I tried the same exact thing yesterday and the person I talked to was like "You have to pay $200 ETF, get rid of your $30 plan, pay $70/mo committed for 2 years, all to save $225 from our retail price of the phone. No." Ok, that's not EXACTLY what she said, but it's pretty darn similar.

Although it sucks that they won't price match, she had a point. :/

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

ah, i LOVE it... VZW guys think they got somethin... hate to bring you guys down, but 1 phone at a good price, hardly makes up for your rate plans and previously gimped devices... its cool though... just shows how frustrated you really are with your carrier, that you need to try to shove something down our face as VZW FINALLY did something right for you guys..

sprints phone prices r high because they have better rate plans over all... i saw the pic above with the VZW plan.. sprint has that same thing now, with 450minutes even at same price.. Everything data, and now you get that anymobile/anytime so who needs pick 5 when any cell phone on any carrier is free... Sprint still WINS!! lol

as far as price matching goes... i can admit i called today, just a bit ago actually... they are trying to refuse anything.. i got one for 199, but now id like another, since now the TP1 feels like a tiny, cheap toy compared to TP2...i have an upgrade on another line, so i figured id see whats up...

no go for str8 price match... got offered a free month of service-which i took, thats 99bucks.. they tried to offer me the pick 3/5 things which they said was 10bucks a month.. i explained with Google Voice something like that wasnt neccessary.. but i pointed out that since they were offering me something that had a $$$/month for free, why not transfer that into a one time credit on my account, instead of me getting 60 a yr, every yr credit ($5/month+12months=60).. i pointed out ive been a customer for 9yrs and if i stayed 9more, thatd be 540 bucks they gave me...

it was no problem to get another 100dollars applied to my account after that.... so while theres no technically discount on the device, i had to pay the 450+tax etc for this one, minus MIR eventually... and i got a free month service(again LOL, i get these all the time), so thats 100 bucks... and then the 100 credit applied...

so i got 200bucks, i did better than the 150 they wouldve price matched..... gotta love when they give u more than what u wanted LOL...

but yeah, they wont actually discount the handset price for you-you may get them too from a promo or discount for other reason-but not for the sake of "price matching".. they seem to be handing out other deals to offset complaints though...

take that VZW guys LMFAO

Yeah SUPER lucky... It took like 5 tries to get it..and they didn't budge. I was losing hope until finally on my last attempt I told them that I was the at the Verizon store and was ready to cancel Sprint's service.

I'm actually satisfied with the offer i got. I was so close to switching to that new plan with the free mobile to mobile to any carrier for $69. Thank God I didn't give up..!

Why all the carrier bashing on this forum? I think Verizon is taking some big steps to be a better service lately. They offer very comparable plans (now), and their TP2 is much cheaper than Sprint's. From what I hear from Verizon customers in my area is that it's a great service, too. Their coverage is unmatched and it's always clear. (this is just what I hear. I have no personal experience with them)

I'm not married to any particular carrier, and I'd be back to Sprint in a heartbeat if they delivered text messages, voicemail notifications, and phone calls reliably. I know your experience may be different, but I spent a lot of time trying to get Sprint to fix these issues with no success. At some point I had no choice to leave. I'm not paying 30% more because I think it's fun or because I'm brand loyal, and Sprint isn't charging 30% less because they are the best out there.

i do like reading everyone's stories about getting what they can out of sprint, because i know people try to put you guys down but if you can get it done more power to you, i used to work VZW customer service for all i could because i hated the company so much (yes i switched to sprint first chance i had). But sadly i am now on an indirect dealer Sprint free and clear plan - 3000 min, unlimt txt, internet, night$wknds all for $20 dollars a month. So i can hardly complain about any money i spend on equipment, i just paid $599 for my TP2, sold my TP1 for $200, and i think im getting a rebate for $100, sooo $300 isn't so bad right???

boredandtattooed 09-11-2009 05:09 PM

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

300 is still a good price man... really 350 is even...

these TP2s are built strong, youll see... people paid 300 for TPs, TP2s are better in every way shape or form compared to TP1... i dont care what the specs say... TP2 runs better, looks better, feels better... TP1 is junk IMO now... i still have 3 TPs and im disgusted really when i use em now, since they fail to compare to the build quality of the TP2...

once my 2nd TP2 gets here, ill buy a HERO when those come out too, then no more TPs for me again..

That being said, Verizon had to do something to keep it's Smartphone customers, and this is their 1st move towards that. Sprint has also done a couple of things to re-structure itself. Nothing major, just be happy Verizon is moving forward on the right path..... So far.... Only time will tell...... :drunken:

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

I wasnt bashing Sprint at all when I said who's laughing now. I admit I have been tempted to jump ship from VZW to Sprint a few times, first for the non-gimped touch pro (I eventually bought a Sprint Touch Pro, hacked it to run on VZW, and was so unimpressed that I turned around and re-sold it), then for the Pre (but I love WinMo too much).

But, I have heard too many times how horrible their customer service is. I've been with Verizon for 11 years for two main reasons... fantastic signal coverage, and even more fantastic customer service.

I've been tempted to go to AT&T as well.... not for the crap iphone, but because I like the idea of the SIM and access to all those unlocked Euro phones. But I dont like their pricing, customer service OR coverage after trying them for one month.

FWIW, I personally paid only $80 for my TP2. $180 plus the MIR. But this is because of many hardware issues I had with the TP1, after having it replaced several times, they are allowing me to upgrade early with a very nice discount. Oh and I still get to sell my TP1 for at least $200 :)

That's great and dandy and I'm happy for you, believe me I am, but call Sprint's Customer service and find out. Before, all you ever got was someone foreign would couldn't help or didn't know what the hell you was trying to do or WTF they were talking about. Recently, I've had to deal with Sprint a lot. 1 to activate my BB for the company I work for, the other to order the TP2, then to activate it, and lastly to change my plan. I couldn't be any happier with the level of service I got. But the real test for me, is picking up a phone and using it, I rather use a AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc and see who has a clearer line and who drops out 1st. Being in the Military I travel A LOT, and the only provider that has great coverage in mountains, or the desert around El Paso, in New York, and in a small town in Ohio called Wakeman is Sprint. I always have great coverage where ever I go.... I still have to go to 12 more states to offically have gone all over the U.S. Some people stay in large populated areas, but travel the US, and you'll start to see just how strong your carrier is.

1 thing that no one can touch Verizon is, :notworthy:FIOS!:notworthy: Verizon has the best fiber backbone in the country! Period!

Re: Sprint Touch Pro2 Price match with Verizon

LilRico - I have had the opportunity to test Verizons network. I recently drove 2800+miles from Los Angeles CA to Chesapeak VA via highway 40. Much of this drive was out in the middle of nowhere. I NEVER was out of coverage. I was on the phone a lot to help combat the boredom of 12 hour drives. I never dropped a call. I was using GPS when I wasnt talking on the phone. I never lost EV-DO data. I cant even remember the last time I dropped a call.

But you know, it's been said many times before. No carrier is perfect, and where you live or travel could make all the difference in which carrier has the best signal for you. As for Sprints customer service, I have heard that recently they have improved, which I think they need if they are going to stay competitive. Their plans are great, no doubt. Like I said, I'm not here to bash the carrier, I'm just here to laugh at all the guys who laughed when we got a less capable Touch Pro.

And seriously, for everyone who is arguing how much better Sprint is, how much cheaper they are, but then to whine about paying more for the same phone in the same breath.... seriously... wtf.

At the risk of sounding... I dunno, I'm sure something negative. I'm okay with paying the premium for the TP2, since I'm on their SERO 30, and still getting the 25% discount. Sprint needs some dough, so they can stay afloat, and we can continue to enjoy the benefits of SERO. What they oughta do is add an additional $150 incentive for new subscribers to compete with Verizon. IMHO.

Exactly... everyone griping about the higher price, then bragging how much cheaper their plans are... just buck up and pay the extra and stop complaining :) like someone else point out, you'll save the $150 eventually anyways.

*cough*and still have an uglier phone *cough*

sorry just cant help it :)

Unfortunately, none of those plans will work with the TP2. You have to select from the PDA/Smartphone Nationwide Email & Messaging plans to get comparable features. They start at $99 for 450 minutes and that doesn't include VZ Navigator or Media.

This is not true. There are other options. Or at least, it depends on who you talk to...
I have the family select 1400 plan I share with my wife's line. I assumed I'd need a new plan when I called to order the TP2, but they let me have the phone by just adding data on my line for 29.99.

Ok.
Tell us how the TP2 is better.
It's the SAME device as the TP1 with a bigger screen and keyboard.

You can run the same software on both devices.
