Re: How's your battery life so far? Let's discuss ways to prolong battery life...

well, I can finally complain about my battery. I think I may have ran my stock rom with full sprite backup/restore to its end. I finally got some root crosslinks messed up and now I get terrible battery. A full restore works fine, but only on upgrading (some?) software. once I uninstall or install anything I start having issues ranging from lockups, notification sounds weirdness, and only an initial gps lock (no movement or location change until reboot) but thu it all the battery suffers.

I might be able to step back thru some backups but I don't keep to many more than a week old. who knows what I did when. Point is, i've exposed several places that could cause excessive battery drain, and I think my lockups are only when several bugs get roudy.

I really wish m$ would make better power management controls.

This is an old issue with the TP, and like I said, I feel it's a defect. I mean, come on, not being able to talk on your phone and have it charge? That's just absurd. I really hope they fixed this in the TP2, because if I recall correctly it was just the heat sensor not allowing the phone to continue charging for fear of overheating.

So if someone could investigate, that would be greatly appreciated. I haven't heard it mentioned elsewhere, ie reviews or other websites.
I have been using the GSM version for months now and not had any issues with head or difficulty charging and using data or voice.

And don't forget for those on Sprint with TEP that a failing battery may be replaced as part of your coverage. Just take it to your local, friendly, neighborhood Sprint repair facility.

And I'm finding the battery life on my TP2 to be heads above what I experienced on my Treo 800w. I do admit battery life would be better if I could put the TP2 down for a few minutes. Ah, the experience of a new phone...

All I have to say is that I don't have to worry about running out of battery while I'm listening to music on the beach! Battery life could be better but it's still awesome on this phone.

Re: How's your battery life so far? Let's discuss ways to prolong battery life...

Well, the battery was pretty crummy this weekend when I was at home setting it up. Of course, I live on the fringe of evdo/1x and it's constantly switching back and forth, and 1x isn't that strong either. I also had the back light on high all the time.

Now I'm back on campus, with good evdo and 1x coverage and the back light on auto and I'm already down to 60% and it's only been off the charger for three and a half hours.

My Titan with a 3600mah Mugen was still pretty bad, but I didn't have to worry about getting through the day. With the TP2 I do, so I definitely need an extended battery.

Just waiting for Mugen to release the 4500mah beast.

my battery life so far
I took my phone off the charger at about 7 am...my power settings are about half (no auto adjust backlight), I have my mail scheduled for every 5 minute checks gfx boost at0mang drivers
and my battery is holding at 70%
if this was touch pro 1, with an extended battery, I would be at like 50%!
good battery life

now will my second touch pro have that!? I wonder

Re: How's your battery life so far? Let's discuss ways to prolong battery life...

Now that I've had mine for about a week, I can definitely say that battery life is dramatically improved!

My experience is pretty much like muffinman's above... I pull it off the charger every morning at 7am. By noon, my TP would be down to 60%, but my TP2 is still sitting at 85% as of 2:00PM, and this has been a busy day of usage. Spent an hour on a speakerphone conference call this morning AND about 15-20 minutes on standard calls, plus a dozen texts, and a dozen or so emails... not to mention me just playing with it because I like it so much, lol.

Are you nuts!! What can explain the drastic difference between your TP2's battery life and mine (a few posts up)? Is there some special charging technique I was supposed to do the first time I charged it?

I'm really disappointed with this battery while everyone else seems so pleased

I never Ever experienced anything like is what is stated above. I've had the touch pro 1 for 6 months and never have I had the phone stop on my nor get hot with the charger plugged in and using sprint nav(data) either/or talking on the phone. I was always charging my Touch Pro 1 and I always had the charger with me. Same with the Touch Pro 2, I don't even have to carry a charger with me anymore cause I know the battery lasts 40% longer.

So I wouldn't expct to get these issues and if you previously did, I'm thinking it was a defect because I use these phones EXTENSIVELY and I've never seen anything close to what is explained above.
