Re: Touch Pro 2 charging issues?

You are better off just getting the pre...

Ive always been able to tether with my tp1 (juicy rom) while it was plugged into the charger...
Im even able to download nzbs and torrents (i user my phone as a media player and download a lot of tv shows on the phone and watch them on the go) on the phone it self when i don't have my laptop around. (check out mobile torrent/ nzbmobile)

Yes the phone gets hot but ive never had it shutdown while being plugged.

if you don't like the phone dont get it simple as that

Re: Touch Pro 2 charging issues?

I love my TP1. I'm running SSS WM 6.5 and it's honestly perfect except for that overheating hardware issue. Flashing to a new radio has really helped it but it's not eliminated. If the phone is low on battery during a call, plugging it in will not help you for more than 10 - 20 mins. That's a serious drawback that I'm hoping was resolved with the TP2. It's not completely a deal breaker but it's something to take into consideration especially if you're on the phone a lot.

The reason for me to make the jump to the TP2 would be screen size. I remote desktop and VNC to my machines and that boost in screen resolution would make it great.

Re: Touch Pro 2 charging issues?

I've noticed that the TP2 doesn't like being charged from the computer when the battery is really low... I've had it turn off a few times even though it was plugged (and pretty sure it said it was charging) in to my computer.

Not sure how much juice the mini USB provides (when plugged in to a computer) but it doesn't appear to be enough when the device in low on power. A side from that minor issue I haven't had any charging problems.

Running my Telus TP2 for GPS navigation on the car charger, and I do see the overheat charge cut-off usually around 70% charge. LEDs flash orange/green repeatedly when this happens.

Re: Conditioning your batteries for max life

I think the big mis-understanding comes from the 'calibration' while with older nickle batteries this refered to the battery it's self. the 'calibration' for li-ion is intended for the charging circuits as volt/amp/temp can vary greatly between batteries and during the life of the same battery.

USB provides only 500ma. You need a fast charge driver from no2chem to get it to do 800 - 1000ma. However, no2chem warns that it could fry your USB bus on some laptops. I've never had an issue with any computer.

Yikes. Sounds a lot like the TP1 issue. Does the phone get hot when you're running GPS?
