Ring and Vibrate won't stick after soft reset
 

I got my Sprint TP2 today! YEA!

So, I was installing stuff and making my customizations and noticed that when I soft reset, the "Ring and Vibrate" setting doesn't stay. It just goes back to Ring.

This happened with my Diamond when Sprint put out the update ROM in April(?) and it was tracked back to HTC Guardian. I searched out the fake HTC Guardian and installed with Total Commander, but that didn't work. I lost track of the actual fix because it was later fixed in custom ROMs.

I tried deleting the file through Total Commander, but it won't delete ....

What's my next move? Put up with it until the unlocker is out?

Perhaps an easy fix, for now, would be a CAB file, that loads upon every startup, that resets it.

FWIW - This is happening to me as well, when I set mine to "Vibrate then ring".

same problem here stock rom with nothing installed im sure well see a rom update soon to fix the initial bugs

Same here, its pretty annoying. The sad part is that HTC really stepped their game up with the vibrate function. Man does this thing vibrate violently now.

Mine sticks after a soft reset.I make sure I set my ringtone in Sounds n settings n in phone settings.Cuz if u change it in 1,it wont change on the other by istelf like my Pro used 2 do.

So, I went to the 3 places you can change the setting to Ring and Vibrate and all of them match ... soft reset and they are all back too Ring only. Crazy. :(

This is a problem with the build that is being used, only way to fix this would be to cook up another rom with different Phone Redist Files, but since we have no unlocker that's no possible yet.

I don't even have to reset. My phone loses the "ring and vibrate" setting just by switching to vibrate or silent mode for a second. Switch back and it's on ring only.

I called and spoke with HTC tech support today. They were able to duplicate the issue while on the phone with me. I was told they are creating a case file for it and are going to research a fix as part of a future firmware update.

Exactly, I always put on silent or vibrate in class, and after class when i get a call, its ring only, no vibrate.

Same issue for me! Not cool, but I sure am glade i found this forum because i thought i was just going crazy i was like... didnt i put this on vib and ring? i guess i didnt... no i did i did or maybe i didnt! LOL

just had to hard reset and it definitely fixed the problem. i doubt anybody would want to hard reset just for this, but it works. hard resetting also fixes the annoying "always return to home tab" problem and seemed to speed up my music tab quite a bit.

awwww ... this makes me sad. I did hard reset once, but it didn't fix it. Now I want to try again, but I don't want to start all over. :(

HTC tech support just called me 10 minutes ago. They said they definitely reproduced the problem in-house. They said they are working on a software fix that they hope to distribute BEFORE a ROM update, potentially a file download. They said they would contact me if there are any other developements or when the file is available for download.

Ring & Vibrate will survive after a soft reset.

im not sure if anyone still comes on this thread... however, if anyone is interested i have a fix for the RING AND VIBRATE,, i used it on the tp1 when they first cooked the win 6.5 with the new man v2.5/6 (if im not mistaken)

bottom line, i tried the vib and ring cab on the tp2 and it works like a charm. the only thing getting on my nervs the the toggle between tabs when you first go into the SETTINGS.

so if anyone would like it, hit me up, ill be happy to post it

i wasnt sure if ppl where still lookin for it, and last time i did that ppl got mad coz they said the problem was solved and i was reposting it.. :D

I just got a call from HTC as a follow-up. They told me that this was a Sprint specific issue. They also said there would be no "hot fix" for it, and that the fix will be part of the first ROM update which will be the one for WM6.5. He said to expect in late in Q4.

That being said, I just installed the above .CAB and it worked like a charm...awesome!! Now, if someone could point me at a .CAB that will stop the phone from waking when the keyboard is opened, I'd be thrilled.

thats good news at least, im guessing chances are somegreat chef will cook some neat rom before htc releases their first, either way im glad the cab is working for you
