And I think what he meant was that HTC is going to push out the 6.5 updates to their newer devices that they support directly while it might be a little longer with devices that are mainly supported on the carrier's side.

That is exactly what I meant. I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts the unbranded HTC ROM *will not* load on my Telus TP2, until it has the blessing of Telus.
Remember folks, there are differences between the Sprint, T-Mobile, Telus and HTC Stock ROMs so just because HTC is ready on Oct 6 does not guarantee that a ROM will work on your (unlocked, no HardSPL CDMA) TP2 on Oct 6. I certainly *hope* that the carrier branded devices will launch on Oct 6 but I won't be surprised if the download link for Telus TP2 is missing at 12:01AM on Oct 6.
Look here for (one of the places) where I get the silly idea WM65 will be on HTC TP2 on Oct 6:
http://www.wmexperts.com/winmo-65-up...ouch-diamond-2 info. Also note the fact that none of the carriers have come forward to say "Yup, we'll offer it". The information that I've seen out there suggests early November for some of the carriers ... like the Bells and Telus's of the world -it took a couple months for the Vogue GPS update to appear on Telus after HTC was offering it for example of how fast (some of) the carriers like to jump on new ROM versions.
