Re: S2U2 Landscape
Have been using 2.05 beta for a few days now and am definitely noticing improvements in battery life. Like I said, I wasn't noticing nearly the drain some users have mentioned, and I still argue it's more of how you've configured it (especially if you have Push Email enabled since it will activate the screen to show previews unless you've turned it off), but I am getting noticeably better life.

Re: S2U2 Landscape
A_C has sent it to a few of us for private testing, so the rest of the world is stuck waiting right now. I don't want to rock the boat by posting it though, since he hasn't posted it on his thread.

Re: S2U2 Landscape
I figured, hope he releases soon, really like that app, but it seems like it might be the culprit of draining my battery so quickly....

Re: S2U2 Landscape
The best thing you can do RIGHT NOW to stop/minimize any battery drain relating to S2U2 is adjust the Power Management settings to "On", "10 s", "Off", and "Off" for both Battery & External Power. Also disable weather updates. Also, turn OFF the Phone and S2P settings as well as the "Haptic Feedback" and "Vibrate on Connect" options. Lastly, go to Advanced and make sure that "Don't Suspend Power" is "Off" and all three "Delay" options to "Off".
Once done, I can bet you solid money that any battery drain is NOT the result of S2U2 and more likely to be your email sync frequency or other data/wifi/bluetooth radio services. Edit: Well, those or use of the "auto adjusting"/too bright backlight settings. |

Re: S2U2 Landscape
well this is good news I wonder why A_C didn't send me the latest beta??? He had sent me 1.05a, just the .exe to copy over the existing .exe. That's what I've been running for a long time. Works great minus the landscape not working, but I leave it in directdraw anyways (yes RawBuffer still causing problems with overall landscape performance and darn it GoodThings I did finally forget about the registry extract you asked me for!!! I really need to do that...).
GoodThings... why do you recommend setting all the delays under Advanced to Off? I always just left those at default... not sure why this would affect power consumption? |
