Re: S2U2 Landscape

I've been testing the 2.05 beta as well, and I can definitely confirm the results as LilRico on it... the false bluetooth notifier is gone, the landscape issues are gone, and battery life is improved slightly for me (though I never experienced much drain in the first place).

PS-- when you check settings, it is claiming to be GDI mode, but I'm pretty sure A_C was just using that old mode setting to test a new DirectDraw function, not actually using GDI.

Could be, who knows... All I know is that you have to use a regedit to enable it. I haven't taken the time to look at what the .exe is doing.

I found s2u2 to be extremely buggy in the TP & I must have tried 10 different versions of it. I was posting the problems in a thread that was about 10 pages long from other people having the same problems when someone suggested trying PocketShield instead of s2u2.

I tried PS & was thrilled with it. It is bug free, much lighter (s2u2 has gotten awfully bloated) & doesn't negatively affect battery life the way s2u2 certainly can. I have run PS ever since in 4 TouchPro's & now in my TP2 & it works perfectly in all of them.

Im with you. I been using s2u2 ever since i got my TP2 and love how it worked and looked but just hated the landscape issue and battery life. Battery life was just horrible only got a 14 some odd hours of usage/standby on a full charge, couldnt even leave it over night without having to charge it or i would find it dead in the morning.....Just got the PS and installed last night and config it to my liking and haven't charged it since yesterday at 8pm and right now still have more then 80% battery left.......until s2u2 can give me the same kind of battery life like PS, im just gonna stick with PS....just my 2 cents

Re: S2U2 Landscape

Have been using 2.05 beta for a few days now and am definitely noticing improvements in battery life. Like I said, I wasn't noticing nearly the drain some users have mentioned, and I still argue it's more of how you've configured it (especially if you have Push Email enabled since it will activate the screen to show previews unless you've turned it off), but I am getting noticeably better life.

Re: S2U2 Landscape

A_C has sent it to a few of us for private testing, so the rest of the world is stuck waiting right now. I don't want to rock the boat by posting it though, since he hasn't posted it on his thread.

I figured, hope he releases soon, really like that app, but it seems like it might be the culprit of draining my battery so quickly....

Re: S2U2 Landscape

The best thing you can do RIGHT NOW to stop/minimize any battery drain relating to S2U2 is adjust the Power Management settings to "On", "10 s", "Off", and "Off" for both Battery & External Power. Also disable weather updates. Also, turn OFF the Phone and S2P settings as well as the "Haptic Feedback" and "Vibrate on Connect" options. Lastly, go to Advanced and make sure that "Don't Suspend Power" is "Off" and all three "Delay" options to "Off".

Once done, I can bet you solid money that any battery drain is NOT the result of S2U2 and more likely to be your email sync frequency or other data/wifi/bluetooth radio services. Edit: Well, those or use of the "auto adjusting"/too bright backlight settings.

Thumbs down Re: S2U2 Landscape

well this is good news I wonder why A_C didn't send me the latest beta??? He had sent me 1.05a, just the .exe to copy over the existing .exe. That's what I've been running for a long time. Works great minus the landscape not working, but I leave it in directdraw anyways (yes RawBuffer still causing problems with overall landscape performance and darn it GoodThings I did finally forget about the registry extract you asked me for!!! I really need to do that...).

GoodThings... why do you recommend setting all the delays under Advanced to Off? I always just left those at default... not sure why this would affect power consumption?
