Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I think I'm going to wait for the tp3, I really dont think the tp2 is worth signing a new 2 year contract when I'm positive that a tegra/snapdragon htc windows 7 phone will be released next year. I bought myself a snap to pass time with. :headbang:

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I'm planning on waiting until the new year to upgrade my phone, anyway, so I hope that sprint will carry the Diamond 2. I'll get that, over the tp2. But if there is no diamond, I've got my choices narrowed to the following: (This is currently....tomorrow this could change)
Touch Pro 2 Instinct S50 (I want to play around with the phone, but if it's locked up too tight, forget it..) Hero I'd love to hear about the HTC Leo going to sprint, but don't know if a phone like that would fit in my pocket. |
Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
Not a chance. SERO users get to upgrade every 12 months.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
What is the point to post a threat like this ?
If I was going to buy a Toyota, I don't think I would post a message on the Honda forums mentionning "I'm going to pass on the Accord" IMO this is pointless |

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
i feel ya op, i'm passing on htc's latest overheating, bad battery life, brick of a phone. got my tp1 hooked up to my 9" dvd player. let's see the tp2 beat a 9" screen!

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I am leaning towards the HERO. I just went and played with the tp2 again at tmobile and I just don't see paying that price for a better keyboard and screen. Not bashing it because it's a nice phone but it is too similar to the tp and diamond. I want to change platforms.
The analogy is not 100% correct because he is talking about a windows phone in general so that would cover anything with the windows platform. HTC is just a phone. the operating system makes the phone. |
Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
this is just htc playing the iphone game.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
im waiting, looking at hero. dont wanna bigger version of the tp. imo, same phone.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I'll pass.... Kinda bummed that its gonna be a dead end since wm7 is around the corner and all the devices up to date won't be able to run it since the processors are way too weak and no multitouch capacitive screen
I'll hold out for the Leo if I'm going to consider winmo again |

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
Life is short, why not treat your self when reasonably possible. It's already hard enough for me to read ppcgeeks forums with out my Tp2. There are very few thing paying good money for and a cell phone is one of them IMHO, Since I have it with me at all times, and do so much with it. Don't forget also that if you sell your previous phone your getting some money back from that, That's the way i see it.
I came from the TP then went to the diamond due to size and the same screen. But now my 4gb is filled and I want more space. I want to get the tp2 asap, just cause it looks so sexy and practical. I know that wm7 is "around the corner" but who really know when a wm7 will be release to be used in our hands, 6.5 isn't even out here in the US. |

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I won't be getting it. Paying that much for an older processor and the same amount of memory can't be justified. Sure the screen is gorgeous and the keyboard is spectacular but I feel like that's all you're gonna get, especially if Sprint follows T-Mobile's lead and sells it for an outrageous price. I am happy with my Touch Pro, and will gladly pass up the TP2 and await the Hero.

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I guess it's just gonna be personal opinion. In my opinion just the screen alone is worth 300 bucks to upgrade. It's gonna be about a year before the next gen snapdragon/WM7/WiMax phones get here, I'm not gonna spend that year with a 2.8 inch screen when I could have something better during that time. Even if it was completely 100% identical and they called it a Touch Pro 1.1 because the only change was a 3.6 inch WVGA screen I would pay 300.00 for it. That being said, I'm gonna pass on it anyway :P I think I want the Omnia 2 or the Whitestone.

i like how we can go back and forth about a phone that ain't out yet!

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I've stuck with the Mogul, after getting everything working right. The TP would also quickly prove to be full of initial problems, and I didn't want to spend 6 months of the 1st year of ownership fixing them, like I did with the Mogul. But my Mogul (only 1 replacement) is getting tired, I have no backup phone in the event of a total failure (my 1st one just had button issues, but was useable until the replacement came), and I can't afford to be without a phone for even a day, 7 days a week, as I care for about a billion dollars of properties. So it's time I put the Mogul into use as an emergency reserve, and get the TP2. All the upgrades from the Mogul to to TP will apply to me (more RAM, etc.), plus the few more from the TP to the TP2.
That being said, I WILL wait at least a week or so, until problems creep up, and I determine if they are too great. However, with so many tweaks from the TP and Diamond that will work on the TP2 (or be quickly forthcoming), I don't think it will take so long to get it working smooth. We will also benefit from the TP2 being out for a while in GSM, and a month or so in CDMA, so fixes/solutions will already be happening. But, if features I need are having issues, I will wait as long as it takes, or get something else. But I really hope this works. I like Sprint and SERO |
Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
Alltel users like me will be waiting permanently since in a few months we're being shipped over to Atlantic Tele Networks. Good God I'm dreading it. I'm already looking for ways to get out of contract. Push comes to shove I'm going to send this damn TP in for every little thing and invoke the lemon law. I'll be damned if I'm pushed to some out-of-the-blue roaming provider that operates primarily in the Caribbean!

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I'm gonna pass on the TP2 as well. I don't think a bigger screen and a louder speaker is worth buying another phone. Even if the tp2 has excellent battery life, it's ok. My phone can last all day on a single charge, and that's all I need. :)

Re: Anyone going to pass on the tp2?
I really dont see the point to upgrade from my touch pro.. Aside from a slightly larger screen and a tilting keyboard there really isnt a difference. I already have manila 2.1 why bother?
