Is the TP2 volume louder than the TP?

I have had a TP since launch and the Ringer and Reminder volumes have always been an issue. I work in a loud area and always seem to miss my meetings.
Also.. Is the ear speaker better than the TP? I use the speaker phone on every call because the volume is too low on the ear piece. If I use the loud volume hack the speaker makes a cracking sound. It would be nice to have a phone that actually works well as a phone. To be fair I still have the original TP from the first day of sales. Not sure if the speaker issue was corrected in later models...
