Re: What HTC and Verizon say about the FM Radio

just for giggles I stuck in an att sim card and tried running the fm program from xda and I didn't get any different results than what I got in cdma mode.

I've been poking around the Rhodium docs on the FCC site since the spring. I hadn't checked the pages on the Spring/Verizon versions for a while and decided to after looking at the PNG files. The Verizon and Sprint docs were just pulled from temporary confidentiality yesterday. FWIW, I just looked at the internal photos doc for the RHOD100. No closeup shots of the chips (and it looks like they used a European model for the pics, label on the inside back cover has "EU" checked for the antenna type). It's a Broadcom chip next to the processor (the MSM7201A though), and it looks like it says BCM4325 as well.

Internal/External photo docs for the RHOD300 (AT&T presumably) are under confidentiality until September 30th. Same docs for the RHOD210 (T-mobile version) were supposed to be under short-term confidentiality until May 25th, but still aren't available. Who wants to send the FCC an e-mail/letter to get those docs so we don't have to rip a TP2 open to compare chips? BTW, does the radio work on the T-mobile version?

Justin

Re: What HTC and Verizon say about the FM Radio

The registry init key for the BT radio is BCM4325 on the Sprint TP2. The FM radio is there. We just need to figure out how exactly to enable it. I'm suspecting a config file lock. I'm going to check out the two init files referenced in the registry and see if there is a switch in them.

Those files are compiled, I thought they were config files. Not sure how to open them yet. But just to add, there is a registry key specifically for the FM radio. Doing some testing with the switch in it.

Re: What HTC and Verizon say about the FM Radio

This may seem simplistic but... since CDMA is apparently used world wide (in the US mostly) is the dual mode phone, or a CDMA version, used anywhere in Asia or elsewhere in the world? If so does the radio work their on any band?

Believe CDMA is big in Japan and South Korea.

I presume you're looking at the two HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BTconfig\Platform\RadioInit keys. Not sure if the Sprint model is different, but on my Verizon model they reference "\Windows\BCM4325D0_004.001.007.00" and "\Windows\BCM4325D1_004.002.004.00." Further searching turns up a "FmScriptVersion" key in HKLM\Software\OEM with a value of "BCM4325D1_004.002.004.0083.0084.h"

I'm headed home from work right now or else I'd take a peek in the Windows folder for a file with a name like that right now. It might also be helpful if someone with a Euro model with working radio could search the registry for "BCM4325" (or just 4325) and see what results turn up.

I think it's a different CDMA. U-CDMA, or something. Their phones won't work on our network.
