The T-Mobile version has IE as default for some odd reason. I had the TD2 which had Opera as the default browser. Also, Opera Mobile on the T-Mobile TP2 doesn't work with the zoom slider.

Re: How's the browser?

It scrolls smooth for me.

Why are we comparing this to the iphone?

It's still running Windows Mobile 6.1

There are improvements HARDWARE wise by HTC, and SOME software improvements.

This phone HAS NOT reinvented the wheel people.

It will be similar to the Pro 1 with a larger screen and minor enhancements.

Period.

Re: How's the browser?

I just played with the T-Mobile TP2 for about 4 hours today, and the TP is a POS!

I'm so sad this isn't out for Sprint yet!

Comparisons to the Iphone will be made because the WebOS browser has rightfuly raised people's expectations about the mobile browsing experience. I know its an annoying comparison but people should demand that HTC and Microsoft either rival or surpass the browsing experience on the Iphone and Pre. WebOS has been around for over 2 years and there is still no mobile browser that comes close to being as responsive, smooth, or powerful. Skyfire is an attempt but it still falls short in terms of rendering speed.

Re: How's the browser?

WebOS is the Palm operating system used on the Pre. Webkit is what the browsers on the iPhone, Pre and Hero are based upon.

Iris is a webkit based browser. I didn't have good luck with it, as it ran out of memory on the Mogul.

In that case, lets move the direction to blaming Opera and Not HTC. HTC has nothing to do with the browsing experience on the phone.

Interesting. I wonder if the TP2 will be able to handle Iris. I guess the point that I'm making is that it kindof stinks that despite WebOS browsers being out for 2 years, Microsoft or HTC have not been able to offer a comparable browsing experience.

It still sounds like the TP2 suffers from the problems of past Windows mobile phones. Browser sluggishness and unresponsiveness as evidenced by the stories on this thread.

Thats true, maybe HTC isn't too blame. However, they keep making phones with resistive touch screens instead of capacitive ones. They used a capacitive screen with the HERO so why not with the TP2? Is it due to Windows Mobile?

Windows mobile 6.X doesn't support multi touch. A capacitive screen would not be put to its best use with a non-multi touch based platform.
