Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

Love this phone. I had one quality control problem; the bottom right of the phone squeaked because the black plastic piece on the back of the screen, at the bottom, was not securely attached to the front piece. It was a big disappointment because other than that the phone felt so solid, but whenever I pressed the bottom right button the whole case would move down slightly in that corner, causing a squeaking noise.

I had a huge battery drain problem and TMobile switched out the phone for me (it turns out it was caused by an application I had installed, I'll be reporting that in another post once confirmed in the next couple of days of testing). The new phone does not have the bad fit problem. Very happy

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

Check it out Bonnie Cha from CNET finally gave an HTC Windows phone 4/5 stars (sprint tp2) for the first time in a very, very long time. I think i've only seen them do it for one other years ago. T-mobile version also got 4/5... original tp2 3.5 stars just like the TPs, Diamonds, etc. I was very surprised that they'd put it in the 4 star range (tied with iPhone 3gs), they're usually too obsessed with capacitive screened phones to do that.

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

I have had mine since lunch today... so far, I'm definitely in love with it!

Why? Well, I've had a Mogul and a Touch Pro, and this may surprise some and others may laugh saying "yep, I'm with you," but the bottom line is that it's NOT the Touch Pro 1. In fact, that alone is the single biggest reason why I think everyone criticizing and poo-pooing this phone (especially if they haven't even held one in their hands) should either upgrade or shut up about it, because let me be as blunt as I can be on the matter... you have no idea what you're missing!

I was going to do a full point-by-point review, but so many others have done great jobs already that it's just redundant to do so. My attitude is that this is the Windows 7 equivalent in the smartphone world. Mogul was XP, Touch Pro was Vista, and TP2 is Windows 7. That's the best analogy I can think of right now.

It's what I wanted from the TP1 and didn't get.

it will take some getting use to, no dpad or flashlight, but the screen is amazing . also the speakers rape the original

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

here is my 2 cents. im comming from a touch diamond so im feeling great!

pros: -battery life. when the old diamond battery dies, the tp2 has 40% at the top right corner. battery life was always a problem for me with the diamond. nomore with the tp2
-screen size. the wvga screen is a beautiful thing indeed, the diamond was awesome also but this a case of bigger is sooo much better.
-keyboard. didnt have one before, didnt think i needed one. man was i wrong. i have tried the tp1 but tp2 has good feel decent space between keys. I made my coworkers jaw drop when just slided the keyboard out(no need to press the standby button) press fn right arrow and opera instantly opens up.
-3.5 audio jack. some say useless, for me its a nail on the iphone coffin. not to say the tp2 will kill the iphone, but this phone clearly was made to one up the iphone in just about every hardware feature.
-wow factor. when you take the tp2 out and slide the keyboard out, people will notice. of course i get the is it an iphone? question almost everytime. i respond with this is my computer, gps, wifi-router, camera, tv, radio, flashlight, leveller, videogame console

ok the cons:
-weight. the diamond feels 3times lighter. probably is... the tp2 is a brick. it should be expected because of the bigger everything, im still getting used to it.
-hardware buttons. dude where is my d-pad? i miss it. again looking at the new of htc phones... the dpad is going the way of the dinosaur. another thing to get used to.
-updated tf3d. change is always hard at first, tp2 tf3d is not extactly the same as on the diamond. took a while to figure out how to get to the all setting. htc did a good job trying to make wm6.1 invisible. been a week and only know finally settling in.

conclusion: tp2 is a must have for professinals who need to stand out from the rest. sure i can get everything done on a dated htc touch vogue but on the tp2 you are in another class. you truly feel like you got the best there is available on the market is your hands. nothing and no one is out of reach with device. the design is without doubt geared for people like myself in mind. good battery, solid keyboard, loaded with business, multimedia and connectivity tools and crisp bright screen at 800x480 res and 3.6". there are some bad aspects like the weight and thickness but when compared to the good... you dont care.

Completely agree with you -- I went from a Mogul to the TP2 and I can tell you that, as a business "power user", the TP2 is an exceptional device...

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

before i drop a real review... i just got to say the tp2 has blown me away more than the original tp did when i got it (before that i had the mogul). for the people who felt like the tp felt cheaply built in hand... the tp2 is like the mogul in that it feels extremely sturdy and nice in hand.

First impressions... definitely worth the upgrade. nothing else with a keyboard is coming to sprint for probably a year, so i am definitely happy. well... as long as this phone doesnt die lol.

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

I'm so in love with this phone that I woke up thinking about it this morning! Crazy!

I went from a Mogul to a Diamond to this beautiful phone and I totally agree with GoodThings2Life ... if you haven't held it, don't bash! I thought I was fine, too, without the keyboard, but having it back is fantastic! I love how easy it is to put a call on speakerphone (lay it face down) and the facebook updates for my friends! I also like the push web pages. I set up my local news page and Fox News (shoosh!) and now when I want to look at the top news, it is right there!

I love it!!

I didn't use TF3D on my Diamond, but decided to try it out with this phone and am finding that I like that, too.

All I can say is YEA!!!!

I agree completely........ And, well said.

I will add this;

I was not into my current contract long enough to get a discount on my TP2, so i had to pay full price, $670 something - delivered.

AND it was worth every penny!

There was a lot I liked about my TP1, of which i had 3 (after returning the first just 2 weeks into owning it, and getting a third after the second went swimming one day), but I was very disappointed in it.

Flakey is a word that comes to my mind when I think of my 3 TP1's. Like when you type the "R" key in the contact window and it dials whatever contact that happens to be highlighted at the time. The battery life was dismal to say the least, and that’s after applying the battery tweaks, blah blah blah........... It did some very cool things, things that made me money, but, I was disappointed in the TP1. Can’t tell you how many times it almost got smashed up against a wall.

TP2 is a different story. I got mine yesterday about lunch time, stuck it right on the charger and started playing with it about 8 hours later. So far, it has been wonderful, a totally different experience. Much better build quality for sure. Battery life is way better! And I mean way better. The bigger screen is so much better it amazing. Software is configured in a much better way. The no d-pad is different, but I am already getting used to it. Much like not having all those switch's/buttons that were on the Mogul with the TP1.

When I was this far into my new TP1 I had already found a number of things that I did’t like about it, not so with my new TP2, not at all.

It is a TOTALLY different/way better phone.

Love it!

Hope this helps.

Re: Touch Pro 2 Reviews

Sadly, I only have limited time with the TP2, because it goes to work each morning and stays out until the late afternoon.

So here, what I've experienced so far:
It feels very solid. Like a real expensive piece of tech. The keyboard and screen feel so together, that - if I didn't know it - I wouldn't even suspect it has a slide-out keyboard.

If I put the two next to each other, the TP looks infantile, clunky and dis-proportioned. In the hand, it does fell thinner than the TP.

The screen is large & vivid. Way better than the TP. The TF3D is fluid and responsive. There's no lag at all when opening the keyboard to switch screens or type. It's great to have the TF3D in landscape as well.

There are now tabs for the Sprint Navigator & Stocks. There's also now a setting to get rid of tabs you don't use.
What's missing is the Programs tab. Instead, you get the new Start Menu, which you can populate with plenty of apps.

What I miss though: Recently apps used. They no longer show up when you hit Start.

To get to the Settings, you now have to go to the Settings tab, then hit "All Settings" and it brings up the old fashioned settings screen.

The old Start Menu pops up occassionally, like when I'm in File explorer. It seems there's a glitch.

The back button acts as the ok button and minimizes the open app. What I miss however: If you have been scrolling down a list, hit the back key, then come back to your list, it starts you at the top again and you have to scroll all over again.

I do miss the d-pad. Some menus / screens are still the old WM interface. On drop-down menus I miss it the most. I either have to be very precise with my finger (thumb) or use the stylus. I would like to hit a directional button and then an enter button. I wish they would have implemented the side scroll/click wheel from the Mogul to enhance the experience.

I have managed to program the Volume keys to act as directional buttons through AEButtons. It is however not very consistent and I will have to try one of the keymapping programs from xda to make it better.
I have also installed ManilaToday tab and it works great!

I love the way the contacts are handling! No more need for a third-party contact manager. It feels very integrated! Each contact now has tabs on the bottom to list specific call history, text & email, as well as facebook.

The calendar tab is also a big plus! It does however only give you the option to show month & day. I know this will be remedied with the new software upgrade.

The software keyboard is very good! The new EZ keypad comes in two variaties: Full qerty & Phone pad. Typing is very fluid on either and I really like the tactile feel & the type writer sounds that are now present.

The slide-out keyboard is wonderfully big! Typing is a breeze. I do miss an ok button, but again, xda has a solution for that. I just need more time with the phone to hack that.

As for carrying it: I prefer a phone that fits easily in my jeans pocket. This is NOT it. Well, it DOES fit, but it really shows! It is very heavy and will tug on any pocket it's in.

The speaker is very crisp, loud and clear.

The camera does pretty well, considering how badly it did on the TP. Outside pictures come out great. Inside I use a mini LED flashlight to light up the sceene and it works great. It seems to focus just a bit faster and the pictures don't come out blurry, even if people are moving. That was the worst for me on the TP.

All in all: it was well worth the purchase!!! Now I'm waiting for an upgrade on the Diamond! And no teeny 2.8" screen either! I am finally eligable on November 1st.
