I am hoping the sprint version is under $600 but at this point I doubt it. So hopefully I can get lucky if one of my friends would let me use their discount at bestbuy depending on what kind of deal they get on phones without contract considering BB like to jack up the price of the phones.

Isn't that Canadian money? If so, won't it cost even more in US money?

They need more flashy dumb phones and the advertisements to match. Verizon has it locked down.

If only the dumb phones were flashy...my friend came with me and wouldn't even take any one of those dumb phones even as a temporary phone(even though they've been using dump phones for like 5 years)...Their dump phones are junk and all of them look the same...I think their LG Fusic was like the last decent looking dumb phone...

Re: Sprint Touch Pro 2 Release Date Sept 6TH Per Sprint Corp

I have been a customer of Sprint for over 10 years and have been very critical of them in the past.
But they have improved immensely regarding billing errors, customer service (though I have not had to speak with them in awhile which is exactly my point) and other areas.
Hard to believe that they are still losing customers at such a high rate.
If someone gave me a choice to switch carriers, I don't see any advantages that the others have over Sprint and only see disadvantages regarding plans, insurance, service coverage, etc.
As of now, I don't have any complaints and that statement coming from me is a big deal :) considering a few months ago I was on the phone with Sprint for what amounted to over 100 hours regarding recurring consistent issues.

You have to understand, people are more simplistic then that..Customer service has improved yes..but people don't join due to good customer service...they join because either you have a shiny phone or a good deal...just bad cs would make you want to leave.

I am actually surprised that I don't see carriers throw around new customer deals like first few month free or free GPS or something like that or maybe discount price for first year/6 month. Sprint has nothing to grab new customers at all..their phone lineup is junk...whether its crap phones or their over rated instinct..palm pre is a seller but not enough..they need more and their dumb phones are horrible and all look the same. Most people that buy dumb phones care about looks..if its not cool they wont join...

As for keeping their members well I'll tell you this..people want shiny phones again...second..if you put so much effort into your palm pre that you dont release anything decent for a while...then at least make it easily available..I know other companies have that too..but they don't put all their bets one 1 phone...

I mean I visit a T-Mobile store and they got 2x the amount of phones, they may be crap but they look cool..I personally know T-Mobile isn't as good...but people don't understand this..they go "OOOH SHINY..ME WANT"

And as for competitive prices, as I said people don't pay attention until they are already in a contract..and after 2 years they just accept it. Sprint needs to Modernize..they do things so 1990s..they need to enter the year 2009

I'll give you an example...I had a friend 1 year ago...We were looking at phones and they came to T-Mobile and saw a T-Mobile wing...and got obsessed with it...I hardly convinced my friend to look around and see what others had to offer and when we reached sprint I recommended the Mogul saying how its better in all ways..but in the end they went with the Wing cause it was shiny..so shiny they even payed 450$ without the rebates..Where as the mogul would have been cheaper and better, but not as "SHINY"

My bet is sprint could prob take those features they give away for free anyways after you annoy them enough like pick 3 or etc and every year/2 years add a new feature free to your account..they'd be surprised how many they'd keep. (This doesn't though solve having ugly looking phones...I mean how sad is it that when entering the sprint store I thought the Nextel phones were the best looking of them all..now thats bad)

I hear you but the fact that they are losing so many customers still surprises me.
Most existing customers I figure would be happy with the improvements if they were around before the improvements took effect.
I don't know if that shiny new phone is all that entices customers. Maybe it is.
I have the Diamond with a great plan and would not go anywhere else but us Diamond customers I know are in the minority.

SHINY > all..you gotta understand my friend didn't want to take ANY of the sprint phones temporarily aka 5 days till replacement came in..How many would want to be stuck 1-2 years with phones like that?

But let me put it in terms most of us here would understand..How many of us would pay $100 extra for a phone just cause it has more cool features! Even though those features we probably may not even use..but just the "concept" of having those features. Same thing, most people in America buy on impulse, and chances are they'd go for the shiny...personally, when I was in a sprint store, I was more fond of the Samsung TV hanging(that was advertising the pre) rather then the Pre itself..lol

Personally I even gotten sprint originally because of the PPC6700, at the point I didn't even know what was better or worse..I heard sprint CS was bad...butt then again the Phone to me meant more at the time.
