More details on the pricing, with and without subsidized phone.
There's a 500 minute plan with unlimited text and data for $65 if you buy the device elsewhere. http://www.google.com/gwt/x?gl=US&hl...&ved=0CCMQFjAB Sent from my SPH-D710 using PPCGeeks |

Re: TP2 on it's last breath, need quick advice on new phone
Now we can stop bashing T-mobile about the throttling. Only con is that there's no tethering allowed which may be a deal breaker for some. All in all its a big deal, you're getting alot more and for less than sprint and faster speeds than sprint.

Re: TP2 on it's last breath, need quick advice on new phone
Well the only reason I care about the unlimited data is for tethering. I've occasionally used it here in SoCal with ATT land line internet when it craps out for a couple days at a time. Out in OK I will probably be using the unlimited data until we can get a hardline internet connection but I have always been able to use my TP2 for tethering without needing some special plan which is why I originally stayed with the TP2 when I first had the option to get the Arrive.
If I did get another TP2 and switch over to TMobile once their unlimited plans come out, wouldn't I be able to use the GSM side of the TP2 and still be able to tether like I've done on Sprint? |

Sure if you can find a way around the tether blocks it should work.

Is it something different than how we've been able to tether without actually having to pay the extra fees on Sprint? Sorry I'm a bit confused.

Re: TP2 on it's last breath, need quick advice on new phone
What happens is they use a user agent thing to identify a PC browsing the web and it's that which causes the block. The connection will be successful but you'll get redirected to a smartphone hotspot page.
Here's a link to circumvent that restriction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...32&postcount=6 Last edited by eric12341; 08-23-2012 at 08:57 PM. |

Re: TP2 on it's last breath, need quick advice on new phone
I found out that the Virgin Mobile phones don't work on the Airave/Airvana units. They are blocked. But since I ported my number over to Virgin Mobile already my retention plan is now gone. I have one phone still on it but I doubt they'd let me switch back and reinstate it for the other. The whole point in doing this was because I couldn't get a newer touch screen phone without paying for the $69.99 plan which becomes $79.99 with the forced data fee.
So I have the TP2 which has been kept with a screen protector and a hard plastic case. I also have the wall charger, 2 car chargers and the original box/instructions. Just replaced the battery 2 months ago. ESN is clean. I purchased this phone from PPCGeeks member: Unknownforce back in October 2010. It still has the Energy ROM that he installed and it works well. If interested make me an offer. I'll probably post it soon in the BST section. I need to take some pics of it first. |

Third time trying to reply, damned server keeps telling me it couldn't submit and to reload the page even though I have.
MC - I can't offer but $50 total including shipping, sorry for the late response. On a side note, can anyone clear up the potential speeds using a CDMA dominant TP2 on Tmobile once it's unlocked? I'm not talking about personal speeds in your area but rather if the unlocked GSM side is somehow limited in it's capacity as compared to a pure US GSM device or GSM dominant TP2 variant. The interwebs hasn't provided a clear answer yet but it appears as though there might be some limitations with an unlocked TP2 that won't allow it to take full advantage of Tmobile's network. I know they market having "4G" even though it's just a beefed up version of 3G and I don't really care about what it's called, just so long as it performs. The Tmobile rep I talked to tonight indicated that they are "4G" capable where I'm moving and here in SoCal but that does me no good if the TP2 is somehow limited. |

Not sure about T-Mobile, but my unlocked sprint tp2 on at&t is only capable of edge speeds. That's voice and 2g data only.
