Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
well the tp2 is not a USB host device and u'll still need a computer to interact with the external HDD, ur best bet would be to upload the pics to SkyDrive or some other cloud service and then sync them back to the PC once u return. and im going to report this thread and have it moved to the tp2 section.

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
actually Eric , I found drivers which allow a usb keyboard and mouse to be allowed to be used on our devices . darn wouldn't surprise me if what the op is mentioning is possible !

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
Where did I misspost? sorry
Uploading 32 GB to skydrive will take a little bit too long. So the only "drive" that a TP2 has is the micro sd slot? No other way thru the usb, that settles that. Thats lame. Going thru the wifi to a router attached HDD prolly wont work either, and it would putz along at wifi g speed anyways. Keyboard, check; mouse, check; any mass storage? I saw some other posts about there being no usb hub driver for TP2. and going on to say that there would be no interest in someone cooking a rom build with it 'because interest has moved to newer devices' Last edited by Hansiz; 08-12-2011 at 05:29 PM. |

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
you could just buy a few sd cards :S
But harddrives are powered through the usb port, doubt phones can output that much to run them or you are stuck with one that plugs into wall, in this case a netbook would work just as well. I've kind of managed to set up a network folder on my TP2 and using wifi share (then turn off data) I turned my phone into a wireless network and was able to share files with the things connected to it. Again bluetooth would save more battery doing this and you would need a netbook/laptop or a wireless HDD but this all don't have great battery life. |

Take the files or photos and transfer them to your laptop or PC with a card reader and then copy them to a HDD. Shouldn't take that long.

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
There is a thing called a wifi hard drives if you wish...which go up to 500gb storage...
You can also use a cloud based solution..while it is true 32gb is too much to transfer at once..you don't have to transfer it "at once"..by say automating it to transfer when it goes over 10mb or something like that..

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
Your best bet is actually some "old tech" that is now CHEAP tech if you can find it.
back in the day before multi gig memory cards we have a problem with high resolution camera's - filling the damned cards and running out of space. so we had these gadgets it was a portable external 2.5" laptop hard disc but the enclosure had a screen and memory card slots. you pop your sd card into the slot hit GO and it dumps the sd card to the HARD DISK. the nice ones had a small LCD screen so you could see the pictures you downloaded AND (important) verify a good transfer the older Creative color screen hard disk players ALSO did this. I forgot what they "CALL" these things I know they are on ebay but lack the memory of what search terms to use to bring them up I did find an example of what I mean on buy.com for $250 Buy.com - DIGITAL FOCI PICTURE PORTER 35 250GB you just plug in your memory card and download its contents to the hard disk. now you can reuse the memory card. |

Re: Can a TP2 connect to a HDD and SD reader?
EPSON still sells their picture viewers (same thing plug in memory card download) with the bonus of being able to play video and a very high resolution screen (the pics look good on it)
you do NOT want to use your TP2 even if you can figure out how to make it work. the operating system limitations would just make the process INTOLERABLY slow moving that much data (think HOURS to dump a 32gb card) you need a dedicated device. OR a netbook. you can get a nice netbook that is "ladies wallet handbag thing sized) ie very small and portable for aroudn $200-$300 that would also work very well. |
