What happened to my virtual keyboard? Help...

A couple of days ago, literally over night, the space bar on my virtual qwerty was replaced by 2 keys, the left one being ".com" and the right one being "/". Each time the ".com" is pressed ".com" appears in the text. The space bar can still be accessed on the numeric virtual keyboard. The slide out keyboard works as always. The phone is running WM 6.5.

I have not intentionally messed with any settings, but at times when I place the phone in shirt pocket without locking it, it has wound up in some peculiar places, leading me to believe that I may have inadvertently pocket re-mapped the keyboard. But, I can't find a provision for re-mapping the keyboard. Any ideas what may have happened? Help--please.
