Gmail problems. Connecting

Gmail Problems. Yesterday Gmail started messing up my ability to synch email in general. It hangs and it says connecting and never connects. When this happens nothing else works on the phone. The only solution I have found to work is just to delete Gmail in general. I see recently Google added new features to the Gmail account. I think this is the cause of the problems. This is a new problem and I am sure I won’t be the first to comment on it. Anyone experince this yet and any possible fixes?
