Verizon Wireless Touch pro 2 on T-mobile

I just purchased sim unlock code for my vzw touch pro 2. Currently I'm on cricket network running vin's platinum rom. I pulled sim card from my wife's t-mobile tp2 and inserted it in my phone. The phone boots up and never asks for sim unlock code. It automatically defaults to CDMA only mode and still operates on cricket network. If I manually go to personal/phone/network and select gsm only mode, choose manual for GSM Network selection, press select, the phone searching for available network then t-mobile and at&t networks show up. I select t-mobile and the phone is trying to register on the network with no success. Is there a guide on how to setup CDMA phone (Sprint.VZW) on GSM network? Where do I go to do SIM unlock. GSM phone with locked sim automatically prompt for code.
