I hear you. It was worth a shot, though. Always worth trying the simplest option first.

Yeah for sure, and I appreciate the advice you gave me! But after a lot of hesitation of hard resetting and a little deeper digging, I managed to find the original lock screen files (it was named with htc_ in front of it) and so i deleted those characters (htc_) and placed them in \windows\lockscreen and did a soft reset and everything was back to normal. Phew, I seriously dodged a bullet.
