Re: Good time to leave TP2?

As much as I tried to resist it, I'm making a move to the Epic myself. My brother just got one, and I was impressed, I'm upgradeable as of 1/1/11, and I might ask Sprint to bump me 2 weeks too. I'm keeping my TP2 though.

Looks like I'll be joining you. Upgraded to a Samsung Captivate last night. Couldn't pass it up at only $39 through Amazon.
You won't be disappointed! With 2.2 these phones are Awesome. Best out! Although you'll be paying more and have more dropped calls on AT&T

I will be very disappointed if Samsung/AT$T does not provide the promised update to Froyo for the Captivate.

I was going to go with a Droid X, but an equivalent plan to what I have on AT$T (got to keep my $15 unlimited data) would have cost me $20 more a month on Verizon.

Re: Good time to leave TP2?

Switched to the EVO from the TP2 about 3 months ago. I was stuck on the TP2 and how great a phone it was. That is until I got the EVO. I sold my TP2 to a close friend, and when I see and use it, I wonder why I didnt get an EVO earlier. TP2 was great, but does not compare to the EVO or Epic.

I have a friend who's had froyo on his captivate for months, though not official, it works great! Check XDA.

Sent from my Epic 3G on SERO.

Re: Good time to leave TP2?

I'm kind of in the same boat (I think most of us are ).

TP2 has been great. Once I settled on a ROM using Kitchen I have not touched it in 6 months !!

All I need is GPS Nav (iGuidance or similar)
Browsing
And Exchange based Email/Contacts.
Tether (Wifi hot spot is fine)

I'm concerned about exchange. A coworker has a Droid and does have it working but it's not as good as Windows Mobile (he says). I think he is very knowledgable but it's fairly stock.

Since EVO has been out for while. I thought why not wait until Sprint for next Gen EVO.

But I'm on SERO 500. And I can supposedly upgrade to SERO 1250 (still a bargain).
I'm worried that opportunity may change.

But what would I really get over TP2. Not perfect but it works. I rarely use keyboard.

With HTC's look and feel the EVO looked so much like a TP2.

Most reviews give EVO the edge over the Epic.

Don't do that! Makes more sense to upgrade to Sero 500 Premium for $10/month more. You get AnyMobile Anytime calling and can use Android phones. $10/month more for an Evo or Epic(i.e. 4G fee.)

So $50/month to use any phone you want and 500 landline minutes, unlimited cell minutes.

Most of those probably compared the Evo on 2.2 Android to the newly released Epic on 2.1 Android(with some reports of GPS issues.)

The Epic beats the Evo in Specs alone (superior GPU/CPU/Screen), not to mention it now has 2.2(though not official,) with a flawless GPS.

Thanks for the tip. Why do say it's only $10.00 more a mo but then say total is $50.00 instead of $40.00

Can I upgrade my $30 sero to $40 for sero 500 premium? plus tax and insurance it will be around $50 (is that what you meant).

The one review I read said epic screen in nice but sunshine completely wipes it out and does not on evo. And the larger size is nice. I use gps all the time and bigger bright light tolerable screen is important. I never use keyboard. And processor is better on epic but my understanding is they are close.

So it's pretty even.

The epic does beat the evo in specs but what do you except when the epic was released after the evo? If it didn't have better specs then that would have been pointless. Even with better specs they are still both great phones. Not one is better then the other. Its all about your preference. I myself like htc and htc sense over samsungs ui. But my friend likes the samsung super amoled which I think looks good but think some of the colors on epic are discolored. But both epic and evo both beat iphone. At least for as long as iphone stays on att. But hey, its just an opinion.
