Yes I have had an "unlimited" data plan since before 3g was available. I never paid more than $15. And have had free "unlimited" data coutesy of the "retention" people on all of our lines for the past several years. My brother has been on Verizon for many years. He is an airline captain; so he also has had Verizon's version of "unlimited" data. He has always paid a lot more than me. Many times I tried to talk him into getting a sprint 3g phone instead of using a verizon data card. It would have been much cheaper. He thought it would be too complicated which seemed strange coming from someone who has to master all of the controls in a jet plane.

Hahaha the least I had in the last six months was 80gb a month and that's my grandfathered AT&T plan I think I hit 300 once but I'll have to dig up the bill lmfao

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

why would anyone use so much data on your phones? I recall tethering speeds to be 50KB/s.... That would take 27.8 hours of nonstop downloading to achieve 5GB. it would take 7 days with an average use of 4 hours hardcore download per day to achieve this much usage. I figure most people use like 1 hour of total streaming per day, which would make it 28 days to acheive 5GB.

Better off just connecting to wifi.... shit is available almost everywhere. 3g speeds are too slow to even deal with this much data.

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

haha... that is a great graph!!
@ chardog, it just depends how you are using your device I suppose. My devices are my only data connection here. I can get 80+ KB's/s pretty regularly depending on network traffic. Sometimes over 100!! Woo!!

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

Tethering used to be INCLUDED with data. no charge always permitted up front no hacking. when I first got my sprint account I had a Sanyo 6200 and I tethered it. My first "website" update for Naramlive was done sticking the phone out the hotel window so I could get enough signal (up in the mountains middle of no where kind of thing) at 8kbps if I was lucky.

you learned to REALLY compress and shrink images back then

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

damn...i don't think i've even gotten past 1GB! i'm with sammich on this one...im jealous. well i think the reason why i've never gotten to use exorbitant amount of data is because i had an epiphany one day. i hooked up my phone to my computer at work and started using the company's connection to dl large files onto my sd card

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

but you know something I was paying $40 a month for more minutes than I needed 7pm nights and weekends and unlimited data. Not just unlimited data but data ANYWHERE on ANYTHING. thats pretty tough to beat even today regardless of the speed.

thats why I stick with sprint. even though they are sticking it to us lately ($10 smart phone $10 iconic and $10 4g all for NOTHING)

which is why I will stick with my Touch Pro 2 for as long as I can "get" them (I have 3 looking at a 4th one) and why I am preparing. got one on boost with their "shrinkage" plan so in 18 months that one will be just $2 more than I am paying for my sprint phone $38 with tax or something like that.

I just wish they would stop burning us. Sprint should have made the sero plan their "normal" defacto standard plan (5gb limit would be fine charge $10 more for unlimited data)

if they keep the network updated and online they would CRUSH the competition.

Re: Sprint Letter - "UNUSUALLY HIGH DATA USAGE"

bored and darren, do you guys have the stealth tethering hack on the phones. I'm currently using a virgin mobile mifi device for internet but it keeps going to 1x which sucks. I use my tp2 with 3g locked on so stays in 3g mode and I get about 150kbs actual download speeds so that approximately 1.2mb speeds. I was thinking of purchasing another tp2 and use like bored just for wife tethering. Maybe I should get a TP1 since it's just for tethering. Is the TP1 evdo rev a?
