Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

Holding the pre, sucks.
Using it, sucks
It, sucks.

So I'm saying no. I hated every moment of my pre, and when I got my TP2 I was so much happier.

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

My wife has a Pre and I have a TP2 on Sprint. After toying with it for awhile, I really like the ease of use of WebOS. It is quick in between screens and programs and it reminds me some of an iPhone where things are visually pleasing. It is smaller than the TP2 and sometimes slides out of my hand. The keyboard is smaller and takes some getting used to. She has only had the Pre for a couple weeks, but I know she likes it. The modding can be done rather easily (overclocking as well). Battery life isnt that great, but she plays with it a lot. With the Pre2 rumors flowing, you might be able to get one pretty cheap. I know one thing, I am tired of the dragging of my TP2 (w Energy). It reminds me of my Mogul but with just a bigger screen. If you think you like the Pre then I say go for it. I cant get any worse. PM me if you have any questions on getting started.... oh, no VC on Pre?

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

The web OS is nice... My wife liked the phone but I was waiting for HP to rerelease it with new hardware cuz the only thing she didn't like was the keyboard. Now it looks like the 2nd release will be mostly the same.
Good luck if you decide to change.

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

I say go for the Pre and don't hesitate! My wife and I both had TP and TP2 and I have to say those were probably the crappiest phones I have ever had(specially the TP) TP2 the hardware is good but windows mobile is just garbage (hopefully windows 7 is a lot better). We got sick of all the phone lockups, SOD's and poor battery life. I ended up getting her a Palm Pre and she loves it. Battery life is better, the OS in my opinion is a lot better, and the device just works flawless. The keyboard does take some getting used to but its not that bad, just not as good as the TP2's of course. Someone even wanted to trade me a Blackberry Bold 9650 for my TP2 that had a broken screen and I traded it in a heartbeat, I'm so happy I did. My ideal device is something that is customizable to my liking but most of all IT HAS TO WORK PROPERLY and the TP2 or windows mobile in general just doesn't do that.

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

Well I bid on one on ebay, not thinking i'd win it, I won it. So I'm planning on keeping the tp2 and activating the pre and see how I like it. If I don't like it I can always go back to the TP2. My main thing will be to see if the pre can tether as easy as the TP2, since this is what I mainly use it for.

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

I'd say that having both is better than having one or the other any day. LOL.
Good luck bro.

I respect your opinion, but I am very familiar with the windows OS and tried many things to make it better. I tried many custom roms, overclocking, and most if not all the tweaks on the forum. The phone still gets laggy, still gets SOD, and it still SUCKS. IMO, You might just like a phone with many quirks to keep you busy fixing things. Like I said before I need a reliable phone that does its job as it should, if it needs customizing to fit my needs that's totally fine. I shouldn't have to be constantly wasting so much time trying to fix what should've been working already. That's time I can be investing in bigger and better things. Thanks for your input though.

Re: Switching from TP2 to Pre

Don't worry about him... He likes to just come in and leave... You have some valid points and if you don't want to mess with your phone all the time... Well then WinMo is not for you.
Although I have had my TP2 for over a year and I don't seem to have any of those issues.
But that's only something you can count on if you use your phone out of the box and don't mess with it... Or if you mess with it alot!
