Nothing to worry about OP. That's the way it's supposed to work.

Re: All voice calls are made at 1x
i work for *cough* on the network. 1x and EVDO are two separate carriers. if you place a call, your data stream goes to 1x as your phone is now on a call. if you open your browser, you're on an EVDO call. 1x and EVDO don't co-exist, unless your phone is just pinging the tower. it's all good.

Re: All voice calls are made at 1x
Odd, no one pointed out to him that 1x is how Sprint handles all voice calls (including text messages). EVDO on the other hand, handles data. Why this occurs is because Sprint is a CDMA network and couldn't handle voice and data services at the same time. Because of this nature, you couldn't, say- surf the web while on a call
This changes when you get 4G. 4G (on sprint uses WiMAX), will handle data with the WiMAX network, while voice calls will be handled simultaneously on the EVDO network (at least I'm about 85% sure this is true) |

Re: All voice calls are made at 1x
too bad no u.s. carriers adopted evdo rev b before going 4g. it opens up support for simultaneous voice and data with a whole host of other things.
