Newbie Questions

Just some basic questions/statements to see if I understand.

• I need to unlock the phone to be able to flash a custom ROM.
• Custom ROM can have a different screen layout, and uses memory differently to make applications run more efficiently.
• This does not allow switching carriers or using different SIM card.
• There is a separate unlock which will allow me to use different SIM cards.
• The radio is what locks the phone to one carrier.
• I'm not looking to switch carriers. I want to be able to use pre-paid SIM cards in foreign countries. I need to unlock the SIM (through Oli or others) so my phone will accept non-Verizon SIM cards.

Please tell me which statements are correct?

• This does not allow switching carriers or using different SIM card. HSPL unlocker does not unlock the radio, it allows u to flash different ROMs but not use the unlocked radios or use GSM service

• The radio is what locks the phone to one carrier. Not necessarily, you can use a verizon radio on a Sprint phone, and viceversa, the different radios may or may not give you better batt life, better cell service, etc.

Not too clear, haven't left the good ol' USA recently so haven't even looked into it, but I believe this is correct. Although I believe VZW will give you an unlock code to use other SIM cards overseas.

Please tell me which statements are correct?

Pretty sure if you want to use the TP2 outside of the US, you have to contact your carrier to tell them and ask them what you need to do. For Sprint, I believe its the same deal. We call them to ask them about international use and go from there. They either give you codes to unlock or tell you to bring it to a store and they'll do it for you.

Sprint will give you a SIM for global use, however you have to pay a seperate rate for overseas.

I didnt know i was able to flash Verizon Radios to my SPRINT Touch Pro 2 by just being HSPL unlocked? I thought only Sprint radios would work on them?

I didnt know i was able to flash Verizon Radios to my SPRINT Touch Pro 2 by just being HSPL unlocked? I thought only Sprint radios would work on them?

just dont get confused with sim unlocked radios. im only hspl unlocked and im on a vzw radio.

How can i tell the difference? Can you link me to the radio your using? or attach it? Many thanks.
