GPS not working in Google Maps

I have a Verizon TP2 running Winmo 6.5. Stock ROM. I downloaded Google Maps 4.0 and can't get the GPS to work.

In Google Maps - Options
- Use GPS selected
- Location selected
- GPS Settings managed by Windows

On phone - GPS settings
- GPS program port set to COM4
- GPS hardware port set to none and baud to 4800
- Access set to manage automatically

I've done QuickGPS

I've unchecked backlight and sleep so the phone stays on.

Seeking GPS satellites (0) displays in upper right, but the 0 never changes

After a few minutes I get an error message of Weak GPS signals.

It makes no difference if I'm inside or outside.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: GPS not working in Google Maps

At first glance this looks similar to what I go through occasionally.
I typically leave mine set to "GPS setting managed by windows" any other way seems to gum up the system.

I also occasionally have to do a soft reset to get it up and running properly. Sorry I can't help more, hope one of those thing helps you get up and running.
Good Luck.

Wirelessly posted (htc Pocket PC: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint MP6950SP)

Try a soft reset before opening google maps like the previous poster said or run CleanRam before opening google maps. These have helped me in the past on my Vogue and Diamond. It could also be 6.5 because I use 6.1 on mine and GPS works great.

6.5 and google maps are like a match made in heaven here. Maybe your gps card is going bad?

Re: GPS not working in Google Maps

Update:
I tried the recommendations above - soft reset, toggle location on/off, etc. I also installed VZNav and tried it. No GPS on it either. I spent the last 45 minutes on the phone with Verizon trying to get it to work. They had me un-install and re-install VZNav, toggle GPS, soft reset, etc. Still doesn't work. They suggested the GPS sensor is bad. The phone is out of warranty and I don't have insurance on it, so I'll probably live with it until it's time for a new one. Thanks for the help.
