Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 9/6/2010
I end up removing the overclock software I'm sad to say. it might be that I'm just being ignorant and if I research it a lil more I could find settings that work. basically what happened is it was okay for a week then a lot more sod. like once I got it, rebooted, and got another one right away. this was at 628 or so. was getting about 5 a day. at 604 I got another and said screw it, not worth it anymore. I won't say I never got sod before this, but it was getting ridiculous. on top of that I'd get an error on boot after, but not consistently. it couldn't start the setcpuspeed process. probably I could fix that with the setting mentioned above to delay when it kicks in. probably also I could install oct or play with settings other than clock speed to prevent sod. but I can't find the energy. I've come to accept the windows mobile experience means rebooting every day several times, if nothing else to free up useless trapped memory. I'm thinking android next phone. sort to rant on.
oh, just so this post isn't totally useless, to the poster above: yah that's normal, the overclock speed is set in the registry with that performance setting. the registry setting overrides the slider. |

Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 9/6/2010
I decided to stop being a sissy and just use OCT. I feel bad cuz the op put in a lot of work for his overclock method, but the problem is the msm 7 app doesn't allow you to easily change important settings besides just the clock speed. some of these settings seem essential if you want to prevent restarts and sod. oct 1.5 was a mild pain in the ass to find but worth it. we're gonna see how 700-something feels and if it's stable.

PITA?! A quick search finds OCT_1.5 easily. ;) Like I and others have said earlier in this thread just install OCT and set it up. Easy. Makes the most sense to me but to each his own! |
Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 9/6/2010
did find it in 5 minutes but usually google only takes thirty second for me so I call it a pain :) but for example search just oct 1.5 or oct_1.5 on this forum and you get nothing helpful. go to google and use the same, with or without underscore, lots of results regarding october fifteenth. even typing overclock tool 1.5 in google doesn't get what you want on page one. you gotta add some extra search terms to find the thread with the cabs. would be nice if the program had a less generic name. "winmoverclock" lol.

Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 9/6/2010
Can you only change the clock frequency through the registry? Cause when I open up msm7kcpuspeed and slide the bar, nothing happens. Whatever I try to change it to, it goes back to what it was.
@ThaTwizzla, the registry may be your problem if that's what my question is asking. |

Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 9/11/2010
you might try disabling the overclock at startup, there's an option to do that in the bottom right menu. then when you restart it won't be running and then the cab should uninstall smoothly. you could also look at the msm shortcut and remove the /boot option.

Re: ѠѳѺ Ultimate Overclocking, Tweaks and Tools Guide For TP2 ѺѳѠ Updated 10/21/2010
Nothing against you gono666, but I think that users will be better served pursuing other overclocking options for their TP2's. The advent of OCT1.5 and WinMoSpeed has rendered MSM7k an ancient solution. Easier, quicker, and better GUI on the others (I prefer OCT myself). Here's a thread on xda discussing the different choices: What is the best overclock tool for Sprint HTC TP2? - xda-developers
The other tips you've provided are great and still very much relevant; I only wish someone did what you did while I was reading and learning! If I may, I'd also like to suggest adding more related tweaks like SD card speed, power management on SIM/SD/etc for battery performance, or compact start menu for RAM. When coupled with the other things you've listed, the end result is a totally different phone IMO. |

Looks like a new version of WinMoSpeed came out a couple of days ago: [APP] WiMoSpeed: [2011-01-27] V1.04 - xda-developers
