Re: New SERO Oct 1st
I sure hope it will apply to all legacy plans. That would put me into an evo or epic for a total monthly price of $27.00 for everything.

abednego By then all the Sero folks that would ever make the switch will have done so and newer devices will be nearing their rollout. Remaining inventories of Evos and Epics will need to be cleared as the newer devices take their place. And most of all, because I'm utterly satisfied with my Vogue and wouldn't spend an additional penny to jettison my SERO Plan in order to obtain an ICONIC Device. Heck, I can even run Android on it if I want to. It's BECAUSE I AM indifferent that the opportunity WILL present itself. If I was EAGER for it to happen, it never would. (My life experiences have borne this out. When I want things to happen, they don't. When I don't care, they do:banghead:) If I were SERIOUSLY thinking of upgrading I'd probably get a Touch Pro 2. |

Will have to wait it out on that one. Sprint Rep told me today that the $10 to use Android devices was NOT an Add-on, it was a Whole New Plan. I would assume there will be No way to go back to the $30 SERO once you switch. That is why I just dusted off this old Diamond and loaded Xandroid on it. |

I doubt it this will apply to any legacy plans. Especially if with the extra fee for android your bill still ends up under $30. Sprint is not stupid. They are not going to allow that much money being lost.
It is also not a new plan. It is an add on just like the addon that power vision first was. Those on SERO who want a 3g only android WILL have to pay the $10 fee and those who want a 4g android will have to pay $20. No way around it. So your sero will stay intact with the extra fees. So it will be either $40 or 50. No way around that. Don't know how some of you think you can just pay the $30 and have an android phone. It will be just like the evo now. As soon as you activate the evo the $10 fee is automatically charged. No way to prevent that. Don't forget that with the $10 fee you also get anytime any mobile, sprint nav, and sprint tv. I don't think sprint us going to allow you to get that at no cost. Even with the fees it's still the best plan around. The closest plan that can beat it is the new $40 virgin unlimited plan and they still don't have an android phone. Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk |

Re: New SERO Oct 1st
So what happens to SERO users that have the -- Fair and Flexible - 1250 Anytime Minutes ?
Which is what I have... The plan is already $49.99 adding $10 to switch to android and $10 for the 4g Doesnt make sense at $69.99... do you guys think those SERO customers will be given the option to go down to 500 minutes? I never go over like 400..lol guess everyone i know is on SPRINT. Any ideas? thanks |

@oppman
I would call sprint come oct.1. Heck I would try calling them now. They may switch you to the 500 min plan. Back when sero was discontinued my brother inlaw changed his plan down to 500. You might get lucky especially since I was offered to go back to sero after going to everything data. The sprint rep told me that with the oct.1 deal in effect some codes have become active and that's how they would be able to get me back on sero. Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk |

Re: New SERO Oct 1st
picture this your a hitchhiker and sprint is a pickup. sprint decides to let you on and help you get where ever you are going. you decide that you want to drive, and make several stops along the way, while complaining about the truck not being comfortable,etc... you just cant do that...beggars cant be choosers...enjoy the ride...when its time to get off say thanks. remember you could still be stuck hitchhiking in the middle of nowhere, or worse paying what most other plans cost...btw im on sprint with sero.

I'm not condoning the act of tethering on SERO and transferring 30GB of data every month (that seems like plain old ABUSE to me). It's cases like that which kill the value of SERO for Sprint, and it may very well be part of the reason that Sprint is slowly but surely cutting down on the number of $30 SERO plans out there. And by the way, these addons do make the SERO 1250 plan pretty damn useless. |

quote from comments section of the article you linkd to... Russ Says: August 17th, 2010 at 8:03 am Matt, From what I understand, online ESN swap doesn’t work with SERO because the plan type is no longer available. But, in general, once you upgrade to the “premium” SERO plan, I don’t think you can go back, so your bill would remain at $40 or higher ($50 with EVO). Russ and this a bit later...

Woohoo! Looks like he updated the post today regarding being able to revert back. Which is cool! This info closes the deal for me. I can upgrade my sero and after a few months, go back to paying $30 by reverting back to the tp or tp2 phone on it.

looks like that would be the case. because $10 for an iconic device not available for SERO activation plus the $10 Evo charge.

Re: New SERO Oct 1st
What a crock of shat. So someone PLEASE explain to me what this $10 a month for an android will get me besides the android that i would presumably have to pay several hundred dollars for anyway?
I mean, just what services am i going to receive for that $10 a month that my windows mobile device doesnt already have access to? HMMMM? Seems like just another way for sprint to sukker us out of more money :dontknow: because we ALL know these phones can be activated on our plans right now...with no changes.... if they wanted to do it. |

So is sprint going to get an awesome Android phone that isn't 4g so I don't have to pay an EXTRA 10 dollars for 4g?

and there is my problem. I never even go over 100 anytime minutes so... i really have no need or want for any more minutes. and sprint navigation COME ONNNN MAN. These phones have built in gps1 chips that run off real satellites who the he11 needs sprints crappy nav that runs off cell tower triangulation. So, back to the ONE thing i gain for $10 a month... the "privilege" of paying $10 more a month for a phone im going to pay ohh probably $4-500 for anyway. Yippie. This is really starting to sound "apple-ish" maybe sprint should change their symbol to a apple with two bites taken out of it. |

But the cell phone carriers only have the cell phone carriers to compete with. There is no how to run a cell company book. They each are doing what they think is best for the company and their users. They see how ATT and the iPhone work and the big wigs at Sprint want to see if they can get away with making people change plans for phones. Sprint is trying to change things to please 45 million or whatever the amount is. This is like Obama trying to please all the Americans. Sprint and Obama are trying to keep everyone up-to-date with the changing times so it is easier to keep everyone on the same page. It will never happen but they can try. The "other side" comments usually get drowned out by all the negative comments and then that is all you see. |

Re: New SERO Oct 1st
I would pay $10/mo more for an evo... but SERO users are looking at $20 more for an EVO. Sucks! Guess ill keep my TP2 longer....
|
Re: New SERO Oct 1st
Dude, even though it sucks, its literally the cheapest plan for some of the most top of the line phones out there. 50 dollars a month for an EVO with 500 minutes and unlimited everything basically? That is sick. Also, the Samsung Galaxy S will be available for that price, which is also sick. I really don't think its unfair what Sprint is doing at all. You have the choice, stay with crappy phones on a 30 dollar plan or pay literally the lowest rate in the country for any new Android phone or WP7 when it comes out.
