ROMs: which one with the best memory usage?

Hi all,

I am going nuts with this search, so any suggestion is very welcome.

I am going to the solution that there is not much i can do with the TP2 to be sure to have at least 50% available memory for multitasking if needed.

I am searching for a ROM not using too much RAM, however after a few attempts on my TP2 these are my findings:

I am running MrX-Rom latest version. I really like it and is flawless.
Only the Sense 2.5 as GUI.

I made a few tweaks, disabling some Startup programs I don t use and 3 or 4 processes related to Blutooth i dont use.

At startup I have only 15 processes running.

It boots up at 58% and in a matter of 5 minutes goes up at 61% and i noticed the process GWES.EXE is slowly growing up, sucking memory.

If i am lucky at the moment it stabilize around 63 - 65% but very easily, after using a few apps, mostly opera, it will go up to about 73% and then to regain some memory i have to CleanRAM Lv 3 and goes back to a decent 65% .

From about 62% if i disable the Sense 2.5 via Today settings, switching to the standard Titanium WM 6.5 I get finally a solid 52%. It will go up a bit during usage, but never goes above 64% in idle (versus above 74% if using Sense 2.5). But I m stuck on Titanium.

So, is out there any other solution to have a decent GUI and at the same time a reasonable amount of memory or is this just a limit of the TP2, because you cannot squeeze that much out of 187.38 MB of total RAM ?

Any help is very appreciated.

well with the blackout 6.1 rom I boot with 99mb ram free however my usage still goes into the 70% range just from textin, using IE and beejive IM. I saw another 6.1 rom on here that's completely clean meaning u have to install sense 2.1 or 2.5 by urself. it booted with only 50mb ram used

Re: ROMs: which one with the best memory usage?

no one wants to pay $30 for an app that doesn't even have good facebook integration nor reliable weather info. my suggestion is better its a rom with sense 2.5 that's stable and has a lot of free memory at boot

it costs so much money and it doesnt even do everything sense does. theres really no point in buying it now that wp7 is making its way in, they will probably have to make this free like they did with spb tv

Re: ROMs: which one with the best memory usage?

Thank you guys for your suggestions.

I have been running SPB MS for the 15 days trial, on MrX rom. I am not impressed.

Yep, it is better than a basic Titanium of course but as GUI not it feels "old". It was good last year, when Diamond ad TP came out with a less than satisfactory interface. I used it on my Diamond and it was quite innovative at that time.
Today I can t say the same.

I heard about MediumHill ROMs. Actually I feel absolutely happy with MrX Rom because everything is working great and there are no glitches. Before moving to another one with the hassle to reconfigure all my crap, to discover that the memory managment ends to be the same, I am just thinking twice.

Question is:

SENSE 2.5 on MrX ROM, boots pretty well, around 60%, however operational management goes up to 70 - 73% which is what I do not like.

Titanium on MrX ROM is amazing, boots at 48% and goes up around 55 - 59% and usually stays there. Problem is the low interaction with Titanium.

IS ANYONE USING THE MEDIUMHILL ROM and can report what is the memory management? This would really help.

Thhank you so muchh.

Re: ROMs: which one with the best memory usage?

Scroslers SprintBasics 1.4 Rom I mentioned earlier in the thread supposedly runs smooth without much issue...I read it boots in low 40's and has great memory management. Its a 6.1 build with sense 2.1.
