well thats where in lays the problem I believe, wasn't the cab ripped off another phone not just available for download?

i assume your right about that if i remember correctly.. but it wasnt a paid app in the phone either though..

this is sort of like the whole Shazaam(Music ID) situation... with Shazaam though, it had paid features in it- downloading from iTunes.. though we could NOT utilize the download ability on our TP series devices, it still was technically a pay-for-service therefore it was understood why it had to be taken down..

when it comes to Swype, it was never paid software protected by the DMCA and therfore those versions can still be transfered/re-disturbuted at will..

Now if you were to email someone with a name very similar to mine @gmail.com that unknown individual may be able to point you in the right direction

nope dont need it, my Chef has the now illegal(apparently) app cooked right into his ROM

EDIT- what about "TellME"? that app came ripped off another device as well.. yet noones screaming unauthorized use

That's because MS hasn't actively tried to protect it, Swype did. Pure and simple.

i understand the site complying just to make things simplier, but noone broke any laws by it being here.. thats why the Chefs havent been forced to remove it from their ROMs by admin here

There was no freely released version, they were hacked off of devices on which they were released.

WMWiFiRouter was free until version 1.0, so that's different.

So Swype said that the versions were unauthorized which made them disappear.

Now if you were to email someone with a name very similar to mine @gmail.com that unknown individual may be able to point you in the right direction.
