Touch Pro 2 no longer available through Asurion
 

I had just posted this on the slick deals forum but thought i'd post it here also. Basically from the looks of it, Asurion doesn't appear to be replacing the TP2 anymore and are trying to put you in a HTC Hero or Samsung Moment. Yep.. I just tried to get mine replaced and they tried to send me an Imagio. I think I'm going to try to live with it until WP7 devices come out and then make a claim since it is only a little screen separation that started the claim, but they did offer an Incredible. I might just wait a few weeks to see if I'm interested in the Droid X or Droid II.

this is good news... im guessing there will be a better htc touchscreen w/slideout qwerty pretty soon. im holding on to my tp2 until then.

only thing im concerned about is why is the tp2 being discontinued BEFORE the release of a newer/comparable phone???

good news for some, bad news for others like me on a old SERO plan. Also, to wanta replace my TP2 with a Hero is a joke. Me personally, GOT to have my slide out keyboard! Typing on screen drives me nuts

My TP2 I acting flaky again.
Two questions for you
1. My TP2 is a third phone, 1st I cracked the screen, got a brand new through Asurion, 2nd signal issue, heating up, I got a refurb through VZ.
Can I still file a claim?
2.I wouldn't want the Imagio either.
Can you ask for a comparable phone, I guess it would be D2 since it has keyboard and stuff?

You know... I never go through Asurion... I always go into the store. I feel I can make my point a little better when they have to look at my face.
Do you think the stores will not replace my TP2 with a TP2 if I walk in?

its weird that its over multiple carriers too. usually the verizon model will be in stock longer than the sprint, or so on. but to just say no more tp2 for any carrier just doesnt make sense. heck, they still have moguls and titans to give away!

So what happens to us on SERO with insurance. If I don't get a replacement TP2, it better somehow be an EVO or an Epic, cause any other SERO eligible phone is a definite downgrade.

Does anybody know if this is just for sprint? Insurance through US Cell is owned by asurion and i'd be interested to see if this is just Sprint or if its this way all over.

I just hope/pray my new unit lasts me for awhile. Like someone else said, these others offered are downgrades imop...Now if they want to give me the EVO and allow me to keep my $30/Sero plan (which from what i've been told isn't possible), then i'm cool with it. Otherwise, I think if I'm paying for insurance on a certain model thats this new, I should be replaced with that same model. Doesn't seem fair. Now yea, If i was still on the Mogul or 6700 I would understand. But the Tp2? Gimme a break

Sprint probably got smart and realized that the majority of SERO customers know what is happening and going top of the line to ensure that their phone will be able to be replaced when nothing else is allowed on our plans. I was going to go into a Sprint store for various reasons such as the oil slick on my screen, horrible battery life (with stock ROM), and finicky battery port. But if this is the case then it's not worth my time. Now if they are replacing with Android models than it may be worth the drive. Hope to hear more about this in the future.

I actually just got my phone replaced with a brand new unit at the sprint store.. at first they ordered me a samsung moment wheni was supposed to get a refurbished tp2.. But when they realized the screwed up they gave me a brand new one..

the imagio really isn't a comparable phone especially given the lack of keyboard. the slide hinge on my TP2 is damaged and super loose, but an expired contract too. hm. is there a way to negotiate w/asurion for a device that's actually comparable?

Yesterday I called Asurion to file a claim. They offered me a Moment. Then I complained that I couldn't get my corporate e-mail with a Moment and they sent me what looks to be a new TP2. Don't know for sure yet because I haven't received it.

I should have seen this thread before i called....i called since i had liquid damage and the phone was resetting and they tried to give me a Hero. Since im on a SERO plan and dont want to change plans, they told me that i can either file the claim now and take the hero or palm pre, or i can file the claim and be put on the wait list for a TP2. He guaranteed me (taking it with a grain of salt) that i will get a TP2 but we will see. They said if i didnt file the claim now, i had 60 days to do so or i wouldnt be able to file another one so i was kinda stuck.....hoping this all works out

They offered you a incredible or Droid X, id easily pay 100 for either

just wondering Ive got 2 tp2's and 1 doesnt charge from the mini usb port, ive had this one replaced 4 times since feb. the other 1 has always worked flawlessly

I've had my TP2 replaced 3 times at the sprint store because of the port either not charging or thinking that i had put a cable from a computer in and not just a power cable... This current TP2 is going out as we speak...this sucks...

has anyone had success with buying an Evo from anywhere but sprint and just giving sprint the ESN or whatever and trying to get it working with SERO? stupid question maybe...

You'll have to take what they give you (don't count on any phone that you cannot use with SERO) or change your plan...

this really sint fair for Sprint customers..

VZW is offering DRoid X and HDs, etc

Sprint is offering Heros(2 years old), Moments(offically just replaced w/ the Intercept), and PREs(Palm doesnt even exist right now/until HP merger is finalized)..

sounds like Sprnt will get the raw end here if i kknow the SPrint community well...

I was only offered an Imagio (Whitestone/Touch HD). Droid X and the Imagio are miles apart.

edit=after checking with the "Advanced Customer Service Team", I was also offered the original Touch Pro..lol

wow.. what great news.. I just got my tp2 replaced with a brand new one from sprint.. I put my screen protector on and not 30 minutes later I sat on the phone and cracked the screen. i have insurance but If I cant get the TP2 from assurion replacement ill be pizzed! There isnt another phone that will work with sero that compares with this phone!

just for shitz, i tried through the website phoneclaim.com . i was offered a hero. my phone is in good shape besides a big chunk of housing missing by the power button. i was going to get it replaced right before i upgraded to have a new looking one to sell. thats still my plan, im just going to have to do it through the sprint store.

Trust me, I know...even though I have a new tp2 on the way, doesn't mean I may not have a problem with it later...That's what I'm worried about. I would say I'd cancel my insurance, but, if something like the keyboard or something goes out I could still go into a store with it..but if i crack my screen again, lose it or get water damage i'll be screwed.

yep. and I go fishing alot. I keep my phone in a water proof box but even if I take it out the humidity will set of the water sensors.

What about the sprint stores? Will they process the insurance claims for a nominal fee? Assurian can send me a hero all day long but it wont work on my plan.

I've read that that's the reason why Asurion stopped carrying the TP2, to keep people from doing exactly what you were going to do.

I've never heard of a store processing an insurance claim through Asurion for you. Well, unless you have some hard head who acts like they have no clue what they're doing, then they might dial the number for them and get them on the line. Other than that, service centers just service them or if they can't, do service swaps if the phones in stock. Of course they won't do a swap if the screens cracked, or sensor shows solid.

hahahahaha. show me where you read that! i call bs. for one, i would pay a hundred dollar deductible. thats all a refurb is worth in my opinion. also, you have to send the old one in to be refurbed to let them send back out to make another 100 bucks. they make money be doing this, you do realize that, right? also, my gfs tp2 shows rainbow banding. its a replacement from assurion and they offer a one year warranty, so on that one they owe us a new phone. how are they gonna replace it? tell me that. you need to need to stop being so judgmental.

yeah me niether.. Iv always had to call assurian. I will go to the store and raise hell thuogh if my 500 dollar phone isnt going to be replaced with there insurance plan that they sell.. The only problem is that I am with sero so retentions really doesnt care if they lose me as a customer..

way back my gf had a cracked screen and to get the entire phone replaced instore without calling asurion, it was 119 dollars. i think they woulve done that wether we had insurance or not.

If the device is covered by Total Equipment Protection (TEP) or the Equipment Service & Repair Program (ESRP), there is no charge for repairs caused by normal wear and tear or mechanical/electrical failure.
If the device is covered by TEP or the Equipment Replacement Program (ERP) and it has physical or liquid damage or is damaged beyond repair, you'll need to file a claim and pay a non-refundable deductible for each approved claim, determined by the model of your device.
If the issue is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, you won't be charged for repair or replacement at a retail location.
If the device is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, TEP, ERP or ESRP, you may have to pay fees per-incident, determined by the type of device.
this is key. the sprint store will di instore replacement. a tp2 is 119 dollars.

i just call asurion to see what phone i would get cause my mini usb port wont let me charge or sync.
Asurion said if i were to make a claim the only phone i could get would be the
Audiovox 6975 (HTC Imagio), cause the TP2 is not available.
WTF...... this insurance is B.S.
