Does not negate the truth though.

I work with machines daily that have avg on them, and are massively infected. The only thing avg detects is most tech tools as trojans or malicious scripts. It's inability differ between a U-packed EXE (the HSPL) and a malicious bit of code is just another note of its poor ability to function as a useful antivirus.

As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for.

Not sure if your truth is THE truth. I have been using the paid AVG for several years. Not one virus or malware problem in all that time and not a single false-positive, either. AVG is always near the top in ratings from places like C-Net and tech magazines. I used to have Zone Alarm, another good AV program and firewall, but had to ditch it when I went to 64-bit Windows and they didn't support it. I don't know about the free AVG version, but the paid version has worked excellently for me and has a noticeably smaller resource and performance hit than programs like Norton or McAfee.

Norton and Mcafee are the pits, Pay AVG is rare to see, Im sure its better then the free one. I wasn't aware any one bout AVG. So i was referring to the free one. which is worth less then a pot to piss in lol

No disagreement there! When I started using the paid AVG version there were no free 64-bit ones. Maybe using a 64-bit OS has something to do with my good experience?

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 on Touch Pro 2

2 keyloggers got past my paidfor AVG. The only reason I found them was I was playing around with a net sniffer and noticed outbound traffic on a scheduled basis . And, the only thing that detected them in an antivirus tool was Trend Housecall.... make of that what you will. I removed AVG and bought Trend Now I have Kaspersky both because I heard good things about it, and it was free

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 on Touch Pro 2

I'm going to have to look into this. My desktop is always on and connected as it serves as my Media Center hub to stream HDTV to my bedroom and wireless extender in the living room.
