Re: Airplane Mode changes to "ON" during calls

I know this is an old thread, but I have been having this same issue. About 20 times in 2 months i have lost a call only to find im in Airplane mode. I am positive I am not holding down the end key, as it is nowhere near my face. I believe it is caused by the location of the sensor (left of speaker i think) and the notification icons. The proximity sensors hangs of the side of my ear and turns the screen on, and the rear part of my ear rubs the top right of the screen, which launches the full screen notification window. Another ear rub on the top right pushes the comm manager link on the top row of notifications, one more pushes the airplane mode button in the comm manager. Seems unlikely but i have verified this with a friend watching.

I would bet most of us having this problem are either left handed, or just commonly hold the phone with their right hand to the right ear. I have never had this happen with the phone in my left hand, as the sensor and the buttons dont line up.

Anyone have a clever way to get around this? Maybe "Just avoid holding it in that way."
I use to use a lock app called smartlock (i think) that would auto lock during a call, but that is really annoying when you have to dial stuff in a call. I also think you can rearrange the comm manager so airplane mode isnt on top, but last time i tried it with Advanced Config, It messed up my comm manager so bad I couldnt use it until I re flashed.

Re: Airplane Mode changes to "ON" during calls

tsk another bug in stock 6.5 tho I didn't notice it cuz I would always just use the headset, and when I don't use the headset I don't have it either but its probably due to that I'm on a 6.1 rom or the fact that I just hold the phone and not press it up against my face.

Re: Airplane Mode changes to "ON" during calls

I would think that it's really easy to see if the end button is some how physically sticking or software sticking.

Goto: Settings/Personal/Buttons

At the bottom select = Long Press End Key ((You may have to hit the little right arrow to see it)

There you should be able to change it from "Turn Airplane Mode on/off" to whatever you like.

I would probably recommend "Set Vibrate/Ringer" that way if it is a function of the button, then when it vibrates, you know that it's the button (physically or software wise).

Re: Airplane Mode changes to "ON" during calls

I actually had the same problem, what I do is after the call is connected push the top button (the one that makes the screen go blank) and you can't touch any buttons that way. At first it was annoying but after about 20 calls it worked out well.

Btw: I was on the phone with my wife (been married a month yesterday) she asked what I was doing for her and I had forgotten to do this and the phone hung up on her.. Lol.. Good times until no sexy time that night

This is exactly what is happening...The ear rubs against the task bar on the top of the screen and then hits the comm manager icon (which is also at the top of the screen) and then the ear will toggle airplane mode "on" (which is conveniently located...at the top of the screen!). This has been driving me crazy for months. I am always dropping calls. So, one day I played with the TP2 to find the cause and found that this is the only combo/explaination.

If anyone has a way to fix this issue (besides resorting back to Win 6.1), it would be greatly appreciated.

Screen Locker would probably prevent this.
