happening w/ me too, I'm in Warren (NE Ohio). It started about the same time everybody else did too. I went up to Geneva On The Lake and it updated OTA fine, guess I'll contact Sprint to see what happens.

edit: Wi-Fi works for updating

I'm not a Sprint user [US Cellular] but the exact same thing happened to me here in Missouri...I knew the exact date/time it quit, and I complained to my local retailer [via the advice from tech support] and kept complaining, because I knew it was a software problem on their end. I kept complaining until the store finally called in to USCC, and it "mysteriously" started working! They said it was my phone, but I always figured it was a software update on their end...

I'm in Columbus and I noticed an issue with this over the past week or so. I work near Delaware and Live near Grove City and most of the time it isn't updating when I am at home and says Delaware. All of the other GPS based apps I use are working fine.

I am from Akron... same issue. My location weather will not update unless wifi is on. All other apps using gps work.

I have the TouchPro 2 with Sprint (!@#$!@#$!@#$)
My roommate has same TouchPro 2 but with Verizon. Her weather updates just fine. Of course.

WTF..
anyone figure anything out yet?

It is an issue on the Sprint side of things ... call and complain or at least report.

im on stock 6.5 and my weather updates fine but insteead of saying the city im in, it usually says a number... 4 or 5. any1 else experienced this? it use to do it every so often, now it has been doing it for about a week...

This, in no way whatsoever is helpful, but please call and at least log the issue. Perhaps if enough people raise the issue, it will get some visibility. Yea, doubtful, but I can wish, can't I?

In my case, when it first occurred, I was looking for a setup issue and as I came across more and more threads, I was amazed to see how many areas are impacted. It appears, and I say it that way because I really don't know how this works, but it appears to be a "local" or "regional" network / tower issue, perhaps in setup or configuration. We can certainly see that folks in the midwest and Ohio region are sporadically affected, but the issue also occurs in Europe and, I suspect, other regions.

In fact, it is so problematic that DuttyThroy, a respected chef over at xda-developers and htcpedia, has developed a cab file to disable the My Location pane in the Sense Weather Panel, so that the phone doesn't eat up battery trying to get weather location data.
