Yahoo email freaking out

Ive read in other post about excessive email not allowing phone to operate properly but whats happing here is it continues to download emails from my Yahoo account and will not stop. It has downloaded almost 4000 emails all the way back from 2008. Ive tried deleting them and when the phone get restarted all of them come back. I cant get in to anything else except mail. Can not access settings ect... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

go into email, then the options... delete the yahoo account, then reset it up. for some reason my yahoo account will do this about once a year... i delete it and set it up again and it works for another year... got the idea off xda i think...
