Re: Auto apostrophes/capitalization without XT9?
I wonder if either of these links offer a solution to our problem?

I loved my Treo Pro because of that. I searched for about a week trying to find this when I first got my TP2. if these work let me know!

That 2nd link looks like the best way to go to get this feature back without so many complications as the 1st link would cause. Unfortunately Im new to all this and have no clue what a registry editor is nor how to use it lol |

Re: Auto apostrophes/capitalization without XT9?
I'm new to phone tweaking, but have enough nerd cred in other arenas to do the regedits. Just waiting on the weekend because this is my work phone and I cant create any downtime or mess with it M-F, will post my results for the Treo converts.

Re: Auto apostrophes/capitalization without XT9?
This worked almost perfectly as far as I can tell: http://www.wmexperts.com/tip-enable-...te-touch-pro-2
Makes traditional word suggestions same as the Treo did, capitalizes the I mid sentence, adds the apostrophes, etc. One of two problems remaining unsolved is I'm it's and we'd not being recognized; but I don't remember if those words in particular worked previously and it is still a huge improvement. Secondly, it works for both soft and hard keyboards but the XT9/ABC switch appears to do nothing now- fine in my case as I didn't want it. I tried a few registry editors as a first timer this morning. PHM, CE something or other, and found TotalCommander to be the easiest. PHM I liked because it seemed so lightweight but I had problems navigating the registry tree. Directions: 1. Download TotalCommander ARM http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm and install CAB 2. Run TotalCommander, dbl tap \\Plugins then goto registry 3. Goto HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e001 0409 4. Modify Ime File: \windows\et9ime.dll --> Ime File: \windows\compime.dll 5. Modify Layout Text : ET9 IME --> Layout Text : COMP IME 6. I did a soft reset, don't know if it was necessary. Done, hope the directions help. Last edited by Morgan06; 07-03-2010 at 09:40 AM. |
