Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?

I'm happy with my TP2. It feels good and solid in my hand, the keyboard is best-in-class, and the screen size and resolution is up there with most newer phones. Calls are clear and the speakerphone is great. I still see new apps added to Windows Marketplace all the time (not bad for a dying OS) and there is still a ton of software out there to play with and install. HQ youtube looks great and plays smooth, the tilt screen is great and just as good as the "kickstand" on the EVO without the silly $10 fee for it.

Is there room for improvement? Of course there is, but even when I eventually do upgrade, I'll GSM unlock it and keep it as a side phone. The only thing that I really do miss is having an LED flash like the TP1. That thing was pretty useful a lot of the time!

Well I switched to the Evo (My wife still has a TP 2, and my friend got the second one I have that si now on my 3rd line)


I loved my TP2...I really did...What I didn't love was the jerky animations and complete lack of smooth scrolling whenever anything was happening on the screen. My Evo blows it away in that respect.

I miss my hardware keyboard a lot, but the Evo on screen keyboard is pretty amazing. I cannot complain.


Definitely not a "hater" ...And would probably still be with my TP2 if it wasn't for the lag. ( hate showing off a feature to someone and then watch as the lag ruins it lol)

The phone itself is part of the problem (insufficient hardware) as well as the flaky OS that struggles to cover up the shortcomings of the hardware but instead dead ends in a flawed experience favoring fluff over function (tell me the Sense clock doesn't make the home screen crawl).

I bought an iPod Touch 3rd gen last weekend because I needed a new iPod and wanted to see what the Apple OS was like (TP2 will die before sunset if I play more than a few songs during the day). I work in IT and have until now avoided major contact, aside from configuring ActiveSync for end users. After using WinMo phones for 4 years, I see what a joke the interface has become. I really want to throw my TP2 against a wall every time I have to wait for an SMS message or photograph to paint itself (inevitably misaligned) on the screen.

I think most people knew that the TP2 would not have very long in the limelight after its release last year. It has nothing left going for it; WinMo applications for popular services are barely supported if they even exist and the masses are moving onto modern platforms where applicable. I do love the keyboard, and the $30/mo SERO, but every day that goes by I become a little more comfortable with sacrificing those features for a device that doesn't eat itself alive when an MMS comes down the pipe.

please name me a phone that was out the same time as the tp2 with a 1ghz snapdragon???

I personally think the TP2 is the best Phone Layout ever. Only a few updates and it would be Top Dawg again. Replace the MSM528MHz with a QSD Snapdragon, possibly replace the Resistive screen with either a Capacitive, Multi-touch Resistive, or Preferred Hybrid Capacitive-Resistive. Then the usual upgrade of RAM (588+) and ROM(1GB) and I will even enjoy if they left WinMo 6.5 on it. (To be honest it would be nice if HTC had an Android Variant, Windows Phone 7 and Windows Mobile 6.5 of a TP2 with a faster chipset and more memory. Imagine not having to compromise on having the best Hardware Mobile Keyboard and a decent sized Touchscreen. Only having to choose your OS flavor and be good!!!)

Only other options that could improve it are DO NOT disable FM Radio & TV-OUT. Maybe add a camera Flash and/or improve the camera, but not a biggie to me.

it's just that ever since they came out with xandroid for the touch pro2 i realize how SH!TY WM is and how AWESOME ANDROID is ESPECIALLY on the touch pro2. i mean the only thing holding me back is slingplayer and its coming out this summer! then again im waiting for a EVO WITH A KEYBOARD to come out and sprint to come to there senses with that $10 BS fee. i hate the fact that even with the pre and EVO, SPRINT still has SH!TY phones. wheres the DROID or NEXUS ONE. and con somebody please release a over clocker app!

lol well when I got it, it was one of the best phones for Verizon, then like a week later Verizon announced the droid lineup. And I was saddened. Now I just can't stand Windows Mobiles slow OS. It take me like two minutes to text someone and the screen gets stuck on off constantly so I have to soft reset it. Theres just a bunch of little things wrong with it that are caused by windows mobile. If this was Android native it would be such a better phone

i think if there was an android build that was almost 100% complete for TP2 i would be staying on it. This phone is still going to be my primary backup which will be used often (I go through a lot of phones and my current BU is a razor lol) and I can stand windows mobile lag and all because its all ive ever known. I just want a change since I hate palm stuff and windows mobile is dying soooo since i am on sprint evo is the prefect choice to swap.

just wish a second shipment would come to my radio shack soon so I can get the evo...
