Re: Connecting a phone using HTC Wifi Router

The reason the EVO doesn't see your touch pro2 is that Android doesn't connect to ad-hoc networks by default. I learned this the hard way with my b&n nook, which runs on android. I had to tether via usb, run, to my laptop, then back out via a virtual router on the laptop that the nook saw as a router instead of ad-hoc network. I think there is a way on android phones to enable ad-hoc connections however but I think it requires root access.

Re: Connecting a phone using HTC Wifi Router

thanks...I tried looking around on the EVO and no mention of ad-HOC so I think your right about the ROOT. I'll wait and see if anyone else had any luck.

So my plan is to keep the EVO and use it primarily on WI-FI how would I be able to tweak the Ad-HOC configuration if possible?

Thanks!
start by looking in the the evo 4g sub-section of the android forum here...
...link for schumuck here...

i dont even know what that is!
can some one help me? what is a schumuck?
edit: and after a quick google search of "can the evo connect to adhoc wifi" i found the answer is no. GIVE GOOGLE A TRY SOMETIME. ITS YOUR FRIEND!
