Advice Needed - Phone Plans

I'm in a bit of a conundrum ... I was layed off from work a couple weeks ago and just received a bill for $225 from Sprint, much higher than my usual $49 bill. I have been going way over my allotted anytime minutes from having telephone interviews during the week, the reason for the high bill. I know I have to do something quick or my next bill will be like $600. My current plan with Sprint is 450 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, $15 for data and $5 for a certain number of text messages. I get a 27% discount for being a (former) Chase employee.

I tried to get phone/service from Revol ($30/mo. unlimited talk) but when I got the phone home there were no bars, very bad reception and I live in the city. So I returned the phone and cancelled service the same day and they charged me $15 as a restocking fee for the phone and still charged the $30 for the first month of service.

Now, I know I will be talking around 1000 minutes during the daytime to land lines over the next month before going back to my sub 450 minute usage due to my job search.

What advice would you all have for me? There is a $99.99 plan that is unlimited everything from Sprint but I don't think I can go back to my old plan afterwards. I am also open to getting a second phone temporarily.

I would check out Virgin Mobile's new plans. I think one of them is unlimited text/web and 1200 minutes for $40 .... It's a prepaid and I think there is no contract.

If you're on a plan that they don't have anymore and don't want to lose it, you may want to look at boost or one of the pay as you go since even if you get a second phone, you're paying full price unless you sign up for a 1 or 2 year contract. I can look around and see if I've got an old sprint flip phone laying around if they'll activate it for you without a 2 year contract.

just buy a MetroPCS phone till you dont need it.... if you dont pay Metro bill, phones done.. use it for a month or 2 till you find a job.. $50flat unlimited everything

Go with the 99 plan, Sprints new thing is you can change your plan every month with no penalty. When your usage drops switch back to a cheaper plan.
