Make sure you installed a taskbar designed for your OS build, as the taskbars have the volume .DLLs included (and some of them are quite old). Installing a taskbar for the wrong OS could cause you trouble with the volume control.

yeah, I imagine that's the trouble, since the volume screen looked slightly different. Wierd that it works all the time and music is what makes it crash. Not sure I've got the energy to sort through that 174 page thread on custom taskbars again...

I have always been Leary of task bar mods, lots of issues early on with WM and did not use them for years because of problems they always seemed to cause. They have come along ways from the WM 2002 to WM5 days.

my work around ended up just going back to the home screen to adjust volume, then it worked fine. On the music tab or slacker it would cause problems, but I could leave them running and just jump back to the home screen and all was well.
