I did not use the hack but it is possible it was built in... as for ICS was pre-installed on the rom...wmodem wasn't

WModemDriverInstaller.zip for drivers

WModem_2.25_Cab.zip for cab

And yes I was also stuck at login..the I did the changes I mentioned before..then I reset the phone..on boot I ran IE to get internet..once I got internet I plugged it in..made sure I still had internet..ran wmodem..it gave an error to disable internet connection..so I went in comm manager and just unclicked Data..went back to wmodem and started it again and then dialed and it went through...

When you dial do you see the data connection on your tp2?

Also for record I was doing USB and not Bluetooth conenction

Gten, looks like right now you are the only one got wmodem to work w/ TP2 w/ 6.5 Rom as far as I know. Any chance could try to replicate the result oh yr TP2 or another TP2. I am really @a loss on What it could be. Sprint definite did good this time. I still think we can outdo them though. thnx

Also I am wondering and highly suspicious that some additional reg changes might be needed since TP/titan to get this to work since sprint did change stuff in 6.5 to make tethering using ICS harder also...

Well which rom are you using? Also you were able to get it working on say wm6.1? Also the one I setup on was wm6.5.3 which is obviously not based on sprint source....so maybe it is a sprint config...

But weird thing is I had the same issue with login and then after the changes it worked :/

Edit:

looks like a config for wm6.1 and bluetooth on sprint...may also work...

I am using stock 6.5 sprint rom. Think I might have to flash to 6.1 rom toconfirm my suspicion. I just hope gps would still be working as nicely in 6.1 for TP2 because it working great right now TP2 w/ 6.5. GPS was so horrible on my TP1 w/ 6.1 and that's about the only thing that make me hesitate from flashing Tp2 back tu 6.1 and poss. stay w/ 6.1.

The fact that it works on phone w/ non Sprint 6.5 RoM further confirm my suspicion.

Gten, if you have stock 6.5 RoM much appre if you can see if it'll work on yours. also do you mind letting me know what custom 6.5 RoM on yr friend TP2? I might either try it 0r poss contact the chef for more info.

Re: Why is everyone so against the WModem concept for TP2?

Ya,I am considering that too.(See edited prior post). Still, in this cat and mouse game w/ sprint, I think we can't give in.

Updated: Flashed back to Sprint 6.1 Rom and tried wmodem. Stucked at the same place as I was with 6.5 Sprint rom. So it seems wmodem doesn't work with TP2 Stock rom 6.1 or 6.5.

There's two things I want to try now:

1. gTen: do you remember what custom rom it was that yr friend TP2 had? I would like to try that out. I am wondering if Sprint has done something to TP2 starting with even 6.1 rom to prevent wmodem from working.

2. I am going to switch back to my TP1 temporarily and see if I can use the wmodem on it again. Reason is that I want to make sure they didn't surreptiously do something to my acc that disable the ability to tether with wmodem on any phone at all. I think this is highly unlikely but probably just to make sure..... Unfortunately sprint www is down right now like every night for back up so i cant switch phone right now ;(

Re: Why is everyone so against the WModem concept for TP2?

I don't remember the rom exactly other that it was 6.5.3...:/

if any rom were not to be effected by sprint's customizations it would be 6.5.3 as usually it is gotten from unlocked devices and etc..

Re: Why is everyone so against the WModem concept for TP2?

I was looking around at the usual registry settings for Wmodem on my TP2. Under HKLM/software/OEM/WModem there is a new DWORD Connected = 0. This was not present on my old TP1.

So I went ahead and delete all the reg values under WModem (Checkprofile, Multi-NAI, WmodemDUN, and Connected). Reset the TP2. Check the reg again. All the other values are gone with the exception of one: Connected = 0. I keep deleting and everytime I reset the phone, this DWORD Connected = 0 shows up again under WModem section of the reg. Of course if I change the value to 1 and reset it again comes back to 0.

My gut feeling now is that this might have something to do with me not being able to use Wmodem on my TP2.

Much appreciated if anyone can give me a clue on how I can make the TP2 keeps the value for the DWORD Connected = 1 after reseting. Thanks

Sprint is definitely getting very devious....

well, it's been a while since I did this, but I do understand your need.
during my time using wmodem I did notice having to fight with usb/drivers on the pc quite abit a various times.

Re: Why is everyone so against the WModem concept for TP2?

I do when I try wmodem. See if you can check out on your TP2 to see if you also have that registry entry under the WModem section DWord Value: Connected = 0.

If you can, try Wmodem on your TP2 and see if it will go thr with the connection like it used to with Mogul and TP1. As i said, I believe that this new reg value i am seeing in TP2 might have something to do with me not being able to use Wmodem since everytime I tried to delete or change "Connected = 0", it always comes back again after a reset.

Would appreciated if anyone else can verify this under their TP2. Thanks
