What would flashing a radio ROM do for me?

Hey guys.

I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 (CDMA) and I use it here in the Philippines. The sim card works fine because the Sprint TP2 is normally unlocked for GSM networks outside the US.

Now, I'm wondering what flashing a Radio ROM would do? I dont necessarily have to unlock my device for US networks, but are there other advantages? like better signal, and etc.?
