STAYING with WinMo
Since everyday I get online and see new threads pop up about changing phones, I decided to start a thread about people STAYING with WinMo/TP2.
Comment if you like this or are staying :D |
Wirelessly posted (PPCGEEKS Fire Dept.: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)
I have a tp2 and an hd2, i'm not going anywhere! |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
STAYING with Windows Mobile here. I am impressed with some of the things Android can do but it has at least 1 more year to go before I'd consider switching.
I really like the simplicity and customization of Windows Mobile. All the features just seem to be there. Most of the applications I need to run are there and haven't been ported to Android yet. It'll be tough to change if it is that Windows Mobile dies. As is most people the Windows Phone 7 isn't looking too promising. |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
im getting an EVO, but as a 2nd line out of my 4... so im staying with WinMO and going to android...
im a tech junkie, can never have too much hardware laying around...and for 199 why not get the most specced device about to be on the market anyways.. the evo is saving me from buying a BlueRay Player... i can download blueray/hd movies, put them on my phone, and use the HDMIOut to play it on the TV.. no need for a seperate player now :) i, like some others, am not really looking forward to win phone 7 so far... doesnt mean they wont show something good at some point... and if its cost friendly, ill prob still buy a win phone 7 anyways when they come out.. just because i like to stay on top of technology, especially when it comes to phones... i have 4 lines, so ill have no prob having 4 diff phones with various OS' on them... |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
DEF staying with WinMo/WP7. Prolly have one of each...
I get WAY too many "I wish my phone could do that..."s from iPhone/Android users to even consider switching! |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
Staying with the TP2 for now. LOL, I just got mine. I was a bit late to the party after taking an Intrepid detour. I wish it had more RAM, but just the other day I pulled it out to send a quick email, flipped open the keyboard, typed out a perfect email and hit send. I'm quite happy with this one. Evo with a keyboard...maybe. We'll see. Besides, I wasted my upgrade on the Intrepid so I have to wait until fall anyway. I'm trying to get out of the "must have newest thing" mindset and into the "find what works for me and just use it" mindset.

Re: STAYING with WinMo
I think I will be with WM 6.5 for along time till unless Window Phone 7 is just something totally better than it sounds.
Right now WM is really the only smartphone OS that you truly have control over in my opinion, I know android is getting better but its just not quite there in my opinion. App stores are nice and all but do you really want to have the only place you can find programs is on your phone? its so nice to be able to browse forums like this and download and have a better control over installing things. There is sooo many GREAT programs on this site that make's WM truly what it should be and how it was meant to function, Co0kies Home Tab is something that should have been stock with sense and its great communities like this one that makes WM what it is today. Just my thoughts on it. We needed this thread great Idea. Thanks |

Re: STAYING with WinMo
About up for upgrade @ end of contract. Am I correct to assume TP2 is the best sprint WM phone allowed on SERO for foreseen future?
Anyone has an idea how I can get the phone for 199 or less w/ my upgrade? |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
I am staying.

Re: STAYING with WinMo
I would stay, but I'm actually getting bored with all the endless flashing, tweaking, and latest ROM updating. Frankly, it's getting old and I need to just get out more. I'll be selling my TP2 soon and my Imagio's already long gone(as in sold). WP7 is not turning my head yet at all, maybe down the road a bit. Android's not doing it for me either. I need a solid email and messaging device with a decent cam, physical kb(hate virtual), non touch screen, good GPS and excellent tethering ability. In a bar form. I think I just described a BB to a tee.
Yep, I'll be heading to RIM country as soon as "BIG RED" releases the "BIG BOLD". and I'm really looking forward to it. WM is a nice os/platform for customizers, fixers, tinkerers and tweakers. I'm just tired of all that.... Cheers all. :) |
Re: STAYING with WinMo
My tour was so boring it made me sleepy. Enjoy!

Re: STAYING with WinMo
I'm staying, the EVO seems cool and all, but it's just not doing anything for me. Sometimes you just know what you want, and I know I don't want it. I'm gonna ride this WinMo thing out, and see where it takes me.

On the other hand, with the EVO right around the corner, there is going to be a ton of the TP2's that are going to hit eBay and such too. so might want to watch that. when they flood the market thats really going to drive the price down. |

Don't think the price of a new TP2 on ebay will go below $200 in next 2 months even after Evo. |

"Sence was prolly a typo and should have been "Since". And Big Red is Verizon. So the statement could have read... "Since Verizon is selling..." Just wanted to try and stop a wild goose chase for "Sence Big Red". Lol. Tryin to help but I think I just confused us all more... |

Re: STAYING with WinMo
I'll be riding out with my TP2 for a while. For business, you can't beat it. Besides, an extra $10 a month with Sprint for the EVO? Come on! Don't we already pay enough for these plans???

Re: STAYING with WinMo
If I can get a TP2 on ebay for <$240, I'll go w/ that so don't have to sign contract and wait for rebate
If I can get'it from Sprint for significantly <$199, then I'll go w/ sprint |

You can install packages outside of the Android store, go to a forum (i grab something from Google's Code Repository once in a while) download the appropriate files and install. But the Android Market is once of the best features of Android. One place to look for software. I loved windows mobile, don't get me wrong, but forum jumping for software got old.... and I never realized how much I disliked it until I started using Android phones. Anywho.... I'm not getting rid of my WM phone just yet.... there still isn't an Android world phone. |

I'm staying on the Windows platform, primarily for the interoperability with Exchange. Syncing everything from contacts to text messages with no hassle, that's priceless to me.

Re: STAYING with WinMo
Flashing Roms is addicting. I think Win 6.5 is going to be the last of it. Is it bad that I am picking up old models like the vogue and TP to play around with since I am bored with my TP2? Its not like you are gonna be able to get a replacement from your service provider. I love the TP2 and pretty soon will be looking for spares since it has and is the best phone still. :-)

:sign1: Staying and sticking!! :headbang:

Re: STAYING with WinMo
Staying at least til win phone7 hits
|
Re: STAYING with WinMo
Staying! I'll boot up the Xandroid port on my TP2 every now and then. It's fun and all, but always end up going "meh" back to WM.
Just wish I could just have an HD2 with fully working Android Port on my current Sprint plan! |

Re: STAYING with WinMo
I'm not staying but I'm also not really leaving... I have had a variety of phones including an iPhone, Palm Pre, and Samsung Moment because of love technology in the form of mobile phones. I will be getting an EVO and for the first little while I probably will not pick up my TP2. But, just like in the past, I am sure I will switch back and forth periodically. I love WM and my TP2 and am very much looking forward to WP7 later this year.
