Using Phone in China

Heading to China (Beijing) June 1st for a work trip for 3 weeks. I emailed Sprint and they said my phone would work but it would be $2.39/min and no texting and then like .009kb/sec for data.

Do I have any better options then this to be able to use my phone?

Grab yourself a pre-paid sim card over there.
Rates are pretty cheap for calling to the US.
And cheaper if someone calls you.

China Mobile is a good bet.

Re: Using Phone in China

I was in China last November, and yes, if you use Sprint it is very expensive. I researched SIM cards while I was there and they really aren't much better deals.

As Wesley762 said, hotel with free wifi and Skype are your best bet.

Re: Using Phone in China

My standby is the Sprint data... $2-3 a day plus Skype.

Re: Using Phone in China

see if you can find any sim card. The rates will be lot cheaper than Sprint.

Re: Using Phone in China

Where does one get a Sim card? Do I just buy one out there, swap out the current one and the phone will just work?
