Before you flash, the first thing you will need to do is H-SPL, the package and instructions can be found here:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93252

After you've been Hard-SPL'd, download your favorite ROM. The process for installing the ROM will be EXACTLY like doing the upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5.

If you decide to go with BNR there are certain files which need to be downloaded in order to use certain features (i.e camera, gps, and camcorder are a few i've noticed). I can help make sure you download and install only the files you will need.

Also, watch this video on youtube about flashing:

*edit*
BTW, if you want to change your today screen to include the lock option, go to start > settings > today. Click the Items tab at the bottom, there should be an option for lock device. Now on your today screen a lock device icon will be visible...the same can be done for calendar, tasks, voice mail, etc.

you can make shortcuts with the normal file explorer. just long press and copy the programs exe, then go to where you want the short cut (ie start menu) and long press and select paste shortcut. you have to long press in an empty area of the screen, ie not on another file!, or click right softkey which is "menu" then click edit, then click paste shortcut.

Part 1: Accomplished. I am now the proud owner of an officially unlocked phone!

Part 2: coming tomorrow, looks like I have more studying to do.

(thank you for all the hand-holding! ;))

Exactly the problem. lol

Can I get a menu with 3-5 choices instead of 35?

Is there some web page or something with a list & comparisons?

I would Recommend starting out with MightyROM Official version first. it Auto provision's for you you and is VERY stable with a lot of free memory. about the only thing that you need to do once you flash it, is if you use MMS you need to install the Acrsoft Cab. other than that its Rocking and ready to go.

Wholly carp, he takes this serious! lol

I am thinking I don't need that manila stuff, prefer to stay non-sense. (hehe)

This is mostly just thinking out loud, but if anyone has anything constructive to contribute...
I just want my basic stuff, and to stay organized. Animated stuff makes me dizzy. The 6.5 start menu, with the icons all over the place in some unknown order makes me CRAAAZZZYYY. Miss the little most recently used at the top of the start menu from 6.1, but not sure how I got it lol

I want to know my battery on the today screen, don't care about 1%, I just wanna know if I'm either halfway or approaching critical. And NO Butt-dialing!!!!!!

I want a good way to organize contacts, notes, calendar, easy access to sms, and MS Myphone for backup. Evernote, gmail. Even better if I can have both my calendar AND tasks on the today screen, not just a number of tasks coming due (but thinking that's not possible).

Don't need bluetooth, my phone is generally plugged in in the car or I have a really nice plug-in headset I love.

I love my PocketPlayer--well, not so much PP, but playing my music with embeded lyrics (I got a lot of stuff you can't find lyrics for on the 'net). So far PP is the only one I've found that does that, it's a bit heavy to run, but better than nothing.

Also GPS mandatory, not crazy about Sprint's nav, but it's okay. I have full versions of Garmin and TomTom I can install (right now using google maps).

Don't need NFL, MLB, or TV-anything on my phone, got plenty of tv at home, thanks, or a netbook if I really want to watch anything. (I've never tried tethering, but it might be something to try at some point, hmmmm) Although I wouldn't mind occasionally using my phone to control XBMC or MediaMonkey...but not sure that's possible.

k, I need to think about this more....I'll work on this again at lunch.

I'm really getting fed up with my Sprint TP2. Some things it does really well, but the overall configuration is getting to me. I'm on (at least) my 5th time resetting everything, but I can't even begin to remember all that I did last time, all that I did last time that I don't want to do again, what new stuff I thought might work this time...in other words, it's just plain confusing and waaay too time consuming for a device that is supposed to make my life easier. I can't keep track of all this stuff anymore, and I am a neurotic note-taker/organizer.

I'm still on 6.1 because of all the problems I've read about here re: 6.5. I'm stuck with all sorts of sprint crap that I want to delete, but what I thought would help me get rid of the NFL program (why do I need that?????? Go away already!), the DotFred task manager, is too complicated. At one point I know I used it to disable bluetooth (which I have no use for but likes to slow down my phone) but can't even manage that with the version I have now, I'm completely lost on how to do that and don't remember how I did it before.

Then there's the butt dialing, which initially was solved with PocketShield, but now it seems that Pocketshield is SO effective that I can't even answer a call anymore. I have to turn the phone off then back on again and call the person back. HUH?????? (this recent hard reset is mostly an attempt to fix this)

I really did love my TP2 at one point, but right now I'm just trying my best to hold on until the EVO comes out and hope to all heck that it solves at least some of my problems. But right now I'm trying to put my phone back together sort of how I had it this morning, but without some of the stuff that became annoyances (my battery icon disappeared and I couldn't get it back, and AmazeGPS turned out to be horrible but it wouldn't delete itself properly either). So far I've spent my entire lunchtime, and I'm still not even close to there. Digging through threads on this forum and others...and trying to distinguish 6.1 progs from 6.5...I'll spend the whole day doing this :(

This is waaaay too stressful. Definitely not fun anymore.

Plain and simple. Get a iphone. You are a perfect person for it. Out the box everything works and no tweaking is necessary. You will thank me. And no.. im no apple troll. I have plenty of apple trolls as friends and I have had my plain fair share of iphone usage and plain and simple. Ait works. hehehe. as much as i hate to say it... its the truth. Ipad is amazing too... i want it. But i will stick to wm 6.5 and wm 7 since i enjoy to custamize the heck out of it and all the freedom wm gives us. I once tried to beam a mp3 song to my friends iphone 3gs and his iphone would not let him accept due to the apple bt restrictions. Again.. iphone is like North Korea and Wm is like America. But looks like we arebeing sold down the river with the new upcoming wm7 if the rumors are true. God speed evryone.
