Re: Lost 2 files on Sprint 6.5, now activesync is broken

OK, seems like "asksw" is the proper file. I'll try clear storage again. How is the "button" method done?

Turn the phone off completely (pull battery). Hold down Talk and End button, and while holding those, press and hold down the Power button. Release the buttons when the hard reset screen comes up.

Re: Lost 2 files on Sprint 6.5, now activesync is broken

I tried the reset several times now, but the startup folder still only has 5 files instead of 7. I am totally shocked at how bad I was able to mess this phone up by deleting 2 files. I always thought a hard reset would fix anything, but no. I have a replacement phone on the way. Either way, thanks for your help!

Re: Lost 2 files on Sprint 6.5, now activesync is broken

Wow man, I am really surprised too. I wonder what would happen if you flashed the ROM image back on, by downloading it to a PC, connecting up your phone, and then re-flashing?

The stock Sprint image is on the HTC site: http://www.htc.com/us/support/touch-...int/downloads/

If you do this, make sure to do another hard reset after the flash, and then a soft reset. I know you mentioned you have a replacement en route, but if you know everything else is good with your phone, may want to try the re-flash. Otherwise you'd be rolling the dice with the replacement, it may have a hw problem or other quirk that you don't have now. Nothing to lose by trying

The only problem with reflashing is that I need to have a USB connection with a PC, and at this stage that's a no-go. I wonder if there's a way to flash from a memory card?

Yes. I have the insurance. They made no attempt to fix or even test the old phone. It was pretty worn out. They gave me a refurb that looks brand new.

Will this work without hard spl? As it turns out, my new phone developed the same problem with activesync. It won't connect to any computer even after a hard reset

Apparently, something from the Sprint 6.5 Tweaks thread (possibly a combination of tweaks) is killing usb connectivity, permanently. It looks like I need another replacement.
