Re: Amazon has a San Disk 16GB MicroSDHC for < $30... but....
Ok here's some interesting links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521302 http://thenokiaguide.com/2010/04/01/...ards-worth-it/ Seems - Brand makes a difference - Actual speed differences are no where near what the speed rating would suggest - Speed ratings aren't really even relevant until you talk about write speeds - The device itself may be more of a speed bottleneck than the rating of the card The San Disk 16 GB Class 2 for $30 is looking very interesting now |

Re: Amazon has a San Disk 16GB MicroSDHC for < $30... but....
When I first went from a class 2 to a class 6 in my Blackberry, there was a noticeable boost in read time. My evidence is only anecdotal, but when I'd open up the "media' folder in the berry and launch the "photos" app, the berry would read all the photos MUCH quicker than my class 2.
Now, based on some scientific data I read recently when researching card brands for my Kodak Zi8, that may have had more to do with the brand than the class. In some tests, cards with slower speeds would be close to as quick as those with better speeds. Transcend and Sandisk seemed to almost always come in at the top of the heap. It was a great post, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Just ordered the Class 2 SanDisk 16 FB MicroSDHC from Amazon. Just about $35 including shipping.
Now to put a price watch on the 32 GB cards... I'm figuring they'll be below $40 by mid 2011..... ![]() ![]() |

Re: Amazon has a San Disk 16GB MicroSDHC for < $30... but....
Remember that class ratings are minimum speeds. For some reason Sandisk has always been very conservative in their ratings. I've read reviews that will show Sandisk class 2 cards outperforming other brands class 4 cards. That said, I have AData class 6 cards and am happy with them.

class 2 is burtal if you have a lot of mp3s and are using manila audio manager. it takes for ever to generate the artist list.
Doesn't matter for media player though as it saves your music DB

Audio manager also sucks at shuffle. Pain in the a** hearing 3 versions of the same song all in a row.
But that's for a different thread ![]() ![]() |

Re: Amazon has a San Disk 16GB MicroSDHC for < $30... but....
I got a class 16GB Class 2 on Ebay a couple months ago. Says its from Japan. From looking at other sites and what not I believed it was made by Toshiba. Not sure if it is or not but it seems to work good. I was having issues with Coreplayer choppiness when I first got the card but I realized that was because of a memory leak and when I disabled Sense high res video in Coreplayer is flawless (my 8GB Class 6 crapped out before I got my TP2 so I had no way to compare). I don't think it is worth the extra money for a Class 4 or 6 but maybe for Sandisk brand (although looking through the threads there are a lot of people who complain about Sandisks going bad).
