Please help with this backlight issue / sod

ok this is not a standby issue. It has eveything to do with the backlight. My audio player will turn the blacklight off after a set time but not put the phone in standby. Well the screen is off, won't turn back on, but i can still control my audio player with the buttons. So this is not standby of death. The backlight hardware is just f*ucked some how. The phone is junk now
