sprint is CDMA. ok...if you're after the 3mm jack, best bet mo is sprint. yung mga GSM does not come with that feature. and yes, it already comes sim unlocked for international use. so ilagay mo lang sim mo and you're all good to go. for data, if sun offers data, you'll need to get the settings from them. but i dont know if sun runs on a 3g network. you may only end up running with gprs on data even if you have a 3g network.

if want to run custom roms, you'll need to do a hardspl unlock. you can find out about it here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93867 - if you get the sprint tp2, make sure get the unlocker for CDMA.

i recommended you get the GSM because like i stated, philippines dominantly use GSM. but you can't go wrong with the headphone jack on the cdma version though. the difference between the two networks doesn't really matter there in the philippines...because almost all cell phone devices run only on GSM. but here in the states, the differences is the technology.

but do i have to do something pa about the ESN thing? or talagang diretso ko na ilalagay yung sim? will the sprint ROM accept my sun cellular sim?

Sun doesnt have 3G here sa cebu, but soon they will roll it out. It's just a matter of configuring the settings for it to work, right?

im just nervous because i might get one, but when it gets here, ill run into problems like not being able to get it to work with sun cellular, and etc..

thanks for the tiyaga, mojary.. newbie talaga kasi :)

no need to do anything with the ESN. when you get your tp2, just pop in the sim card and you're all set. again, the tp2 already comes sim unlocked for foreign sim cards. your network settings will be defaulted to "Automatic". make sure you select GSM. if you leave the network settings on automatic, since it is primarily a cdma device, it'll search for a cdma network to connect to first before searching for GSM when you are in a dead spot. if you set it to gsm, it'll only look for that network's signal. will help save battery this way.

when you get your tp2...before doing anything major on it, make sure you read up on all the things you can about it (in this forum and over at xda-forums). after you've gotten your fair share of information overload...read and read again. we were all new with the tp2 at one point so don't feel bad about asking the questions. but make sure before posting a new thread, remember that the search button is our good friend. search first...because i can assure you that once you get your phone, the questions you're gonna ask have been asked and answered. welcome to the forum btw. you'll find that the members here are more than willing to give you the help you'll need.

as for other tweaks and tricks you can do on the phone...just come back to this forum when you get the device. it'll be easier to explain them when you actually have the device in front of you while you're installing/doing the tweaks so you can see what these files actually do. but feel free to read up on them so you have an idea. start here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78019 - or here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88640. some of the tweaks may not apply to you depending on the use.

thanks a lot!

i read a lot na rin kasi sa xda forums but some of my questions were still left unanswered. thanks for clarifying them for me. the next step now is to get an actual unit.
by the way, do you know kung where dito sa philippines ang service center ng htc? especially here sa cebu. I'm worried na kung i have problems and i need repairs, i cant get it fixed.. just like my old htc wizard..

thanks for the welcome.. :)

I've read about the data thing that might not be compatible with my carrier's? Why is that so? Which ones might not be compatible?

Thanks :)

your data will go through the sim card, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. if you know which bands of gsm they use in the phillipines, you can compare it to the phones to make sure your band is supported. I'll try to find it for you.

looks like sun cellular uses gsm band 1800, according to the specs on the sprint tp2, it is a supported gsm band.
my phone (sprint), does show support for band 1800 in the settings, so a cdma us tp2 should work with proper sim card (sprint, verizon, us cellular).
