Data auto disconnect - saving battery life
i noticed that since updating to 6.5 my data remains active for a long time (even past the default 15 minutes).
by default once you check email data will remain active for 15 minutes (or more). so if you check email say every hour, that means for every 2 hour that pass you are connected to the internet for a total of 30 minutes, this wastes battery by being connected to the network.
it's probably been posted somewhere, but basically what this modification does is changes the auto disconnect after checking email from 15 minutes to 1 minute.. one minute should be plenty of time to retrive email. after the email is retrived one minute later data connection becomes inactive again. seems to work for stock and weather updates too... data becomes inactive shortly after one minute or so. this should help with battery life quite a bit, it did for me.
i have tested it for a day or two and it seems to work fine.. if anyone wants to see for themselves, go ahead and check your email (Send & Receive) notice the arrows on the network signal remain active for a long time after checking email... try the below modification then repeat and see if there is a difference.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings]
Under "SuspendResume" remove #777 from field (leaving it blank)
Change "CacheTime" to 60 (or dword: 0000003c)
Soft reset device..
attached is a cab that makes the two registry changes for those that don't want to go though the trouble. only tested on wm 6.5 stock sprint rom, YMMV.
